Is making weak jokes at semi-popular ILX posters now considered "meta"?

I ask this because half the threads on COGH have been deleted due to this magic "meta" rules because they had some weak jokes aimed at the likes of Bimble and l0u1s jagg3r. Which could be considered a meta joke in itself, so maybe you might want to delete this thread?

But I would like to know what the rules are. If I am to post a thread that mentions any ILX poster living or dead in any context, should I expect said thread to be deleted and myself shipping off to gulag?

There is an outline of the rules here. Essentially, if you start a thread that isn't obviously complimentary about another ILXer (eg Estela appreciation thread), you have to be prepared for the possibility of it being deleted. Not least because the poster in question has requested it. This doesn't necessarily mean it WILL be deleted, but it might well happen, depending on content.

Can you tell me where on the linked thread can I find this exciting new rule that all new threads that may or may not mention other ILX posters need to be complimentary and positive and congratulate said poster on their obvious wit and charm? Or is this another exciting admin development that the admins have conveniently forgotten to tell anyone about?

I'm all for clamping down on crepeness and OTT board drama, but deleting a few minor zings that nobody is going to read anyway is really just a waste of time and utterly pointless. And if you start deleting threads with light references to ILX, you might as well go back and delete all threads with "C/D" or "POX" in the title because those are just horrible in-house references that will confuse people so much and drive them away because maybe "POX" means "a pox on your house, newbie"?

In other words: lighten up, guys.
