And they took all their searchable text with them.
I also learned "Where" is spelt "Where."
I noticed the same thing. BUT YOU CAN'T CLICK ON THE LINK IN CACHE!

Yup. Also, GOOGLE CAN'T INDEX WHAT IT CAN'T SEE!

I CAN'T SEE WHAT GOOGLE CAN'T INDEX WHEN IT CAN'T INDEX WHAT IT CAN'T SEE.

robots should be given unabridged threads to index

Googlebot follows the "click" links, so it sees and indexes the whole page. If you want to find them, add "inurl:showall" to the query.

Can't be true. Google ""john philip xuxa" and you will get nothing. Yet it can be found in this thread: rejected JBR screen names which IS indexed. Therefore only part of the thread is being indexed.
― James Redd and the Blecchs, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 17:44 (sixteen years ago) link
It is true. Google only caches takes the first 250K of any thread, and some of ours are bigger than that, so in the "full thread" it will only get the first section of posts, and it gets the latest 50 from the truncated view.
Look at this cache and see how it just stops.

First hit, btw, has it: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=philip+xuxa+site%3Ailxor.com+inurl%3Ashowall&btnG=Search even though it's not cached, it is indexed.

you got philip xuxa not "john philip xuxa" Anyway, I think I understand what the issue is now, more or less. Thanks.

Ye, google does strange things with quote searches that are beyond my ken.

Now maybe I will learn my lesson about "string posting."

So, can someone explain why a thread like this genre fiction in translation is ungoogleable.

Because they're not in the index?
Just for you I've been kicking about Google's webmaster tools, and they report no problems with indexing us at all. They don't have a sitemap for us, though, so I'll knock one up and send it to them and see if that helps you find the threads that you found.

OK, all those threads up there seem to be in google in some form or another. Now if only I could figure out how to find the various Only Ones threads, apart from this one: The Only Ones now??
― James Redd and the Blecchs, Tuesday, 1 January 2008 01:33 (sixteen years ago) link
OK, I found this one too, but there are some others TS: The Only Ones' "Another Girl, Another Planet" vs. the Flamin' Groovies' "Shake Some Action" vs. Big Star's "September Girls"

Mentioned here too Sequences Of Records but since title consists of unsearchable words "the" "only" and "ones" and thread is seemingly not in google, will never be found again.

Ain't this one either The Only One Who Could Ever Reach Me Was The Son Of A Preacher Man
― James Redd and the Blecchs, Tuesday, 1 January 2008 01:47 (sixteen years ago) link
OK, I found this one by searching with the site: qualifier removed Only Ones: Classic or Dud?
― James Redd and the Blecchs, Tuesday, 1 January 2008 02:17 (sixteen years ago) link
One suggestion, if you please: The browse by date is kind of useless unless you really are sure that the thread you are looking for was started in, say, February 2005, because there are thousands of threads started in a given month and they are only returned in bunches of 200. Can there be a way to cut it down by being able to filter by board or text search through the entire months results without having to hit "Next.." all the time?
