and within the ongoing greater discussion of online v irl niceness i do think that the space to be confrontational online in a way one wldnt feel comfortable irl has value, tho it is also def pretty dicey

The 'dudes' was deleted from the title at some point and then reinstated amid the recent clusterfuck by unknown parties.

Yeah of course but I'm not asking tone policing Black Lives Matter activists, here. I'm telling a bunch of (mostly white and straight - thanks recent poll) dudes on a message board to quit being overly dramatic assholes to each other about what is pretty objectively petty bullshit.

I think stet ought to take Lamp up on this offer, even if my head is the first on the temporary chopping block. hell, a thousand pounds isn't chump change and a temp ban is just temporary.

i support the plan of lamp paying 1k pounds to stet for temporary banning powers for a month but i think that in case he goes drunk w/ power and bans everyone turning the board into a desolate wasteland for a month it should be limited to like maybe... 50 temp bans total. who knows maybe new lamp-style ilx is so compelling that board decides to never go back and makes those temp bands permanent.

i too feel bad that stet is into ilx for that much $ and would welcome another fundraising activity to help solve that. i don't even want to ban anyone. (i mean i do, but i'm not making it a condition)

im assuming stet is just letting the debt build up then will reconcile it with the annual drive?

tho maybe its better to let the drive go on longer this time so theres a war chest and stet wont have to be loaning ilx money

now it's clear that deej has only been tempbanned the stakes seem a lot lower. if the initial threadban was a misunderstanding then doubling down & banning him for being annoyed does not seem like a v dispassionate decision. must be the weather. suspect he dgaf what I think but how's life has conducted himself well under fire imo

Funding: wish id planned it as well as that.

Basically I didn't run the 2014 drive because had just had a kid and was too busy and hoped the ads would cover it. Ads have indeed helped some, but not enough so I just whacked the last renewal on my c/c until I had time to set something up.

So it's totally my own fault that I'm out of pocket but in my defence the drives are pretty involved to run and also babies are a total time suck. Ban stet.
