my only contribution to this thread is does anybody have the version of the homer simpson bushes gif htat shows him both entering from the bushes and then exiting back into the bushes

this will get lost in the onrush of clusterfuck soon enough, but it seems obvious to me that the mods are holding back from justifiably banning some of the more vociferous, scornful, and blockheaded posters on this thread, for fear of 'proving them right' by exercising their power. it looks bad when the provocation is being horse's asses in the mods' faces.

we can help the mods out of their dilemma by the simple expedient of FP'ing those we think have earned it. if the board speaks in this way, the mods have back up. I think they (especially stet) deserve our support. as for those who have said that they deserve 'no respect' or have 'stolen' the board, let them eat reddit cake.

For real, though, I am 100% on board with Mordy's characterization of the ILX ideal as a benevolent dictatorship in which posters get to bitch for days about mod decisions on threads that I can happily ignore unless I'm in the mood to watch a clusterfuck unfold.

I think it's totally reasonable to tempban someone for being a total asshole to the mods (and I think starting a thread calling someone a chickenshit counts but 1) I'm way not into the zinghole goon (or whatever Whiney said that one time) approach to human interaction generally and 2) I really like how's life), although I don't think it's reasonable to ban someone for disagreeing with a mod, even vociferously, as long as the disagreement is relatively civil and doesn't devolve into straight up nastiness.
