Like ok, not weird I guess - consistency counts in the scam game - but I couldve sworn shed posted other pics that had made me think "oh she doesnt actually post real pics of herself" cos they all looked different. I have no horse in this race, but I can totally understand how you could believe that photos posted weren't real (but rather posted to ingratiate oneself into a community, or for a laugh, or to join in despite not wanting to show pictures of your real self), but simultaneously believe that the life circumstances, emotional responses, general self-presentation in text IS real. They're different media, with different conventions, expectations and connotations.

i remember those pics, i think my thought at the time was more 'hmm' than 'lol fake' but i've always found posting pics of yrself online, having tight internet friends, and posting pics online for yr tight internet friends all very creepy and disturbing. as much as hindsight makes it obv they were fakes it should be noted that at the time on ilx several ilxors posted pics as or more pornographic than the above, ilxors whose appearance/temporal status was verified from faps (that luna lived in one of the nexus for faps and never showed despite being one of the more 'i luv my internet friends!' types probably shoulda been a hint), and that amongst the verified female ilxors who did so 'luna' was far from the most attractive one. so within that context, plus a certain naivete combined w/ a lack of cynicism and paranoia that some (myself) possess and a willingness to engage w/ and open yrself up to strangers that some (myself) do not possess i can see how someone could 'buy' that photo. esp considering the aim chats of the time which were even more prone toward cuddlestein after dark (i was never fond of these tbh). should also be noted that ilx was a much smaller, tighter community and, perhaps more important, this was before social media really. my rule generally is 'don't go out of yr way to meet internet friends irl' (cf 'don't hang out w/ work friends after work'), but i'm not sure luna proves the wisdom of it, there have been happy relationships and even marriages to arise from ilx so who's to say.
