should ilxors be tempbanned for taking their beefs to other social media? (twitter/fbook/myspace/etc)?

Sorry. I think I may have a low tolerance for "sacking" because it reminds me of a particular breed of douche I went to college with for the first couple of years.

did they sing all-male choral music in 2-part to 10-part arrangements, too? because if so, I was also one of those douches ;_;

The Owls of Ja Rule (DJP), Friday, 19 October 2012 18:26 (thirteen years ago)

Naw, trust me. Nothing like 'em.

so everyone has noticed that Mordy's "death of the author" comment was pretty much pro-WCC in that it's a ref to separating textual content from the original author's intent? Like, no implications to the original author.

Kind of killing me that it was basically putting forth an argument that the thread contents were in no way indicative of the originator's train of thought, and it was taken the exact opposite way

ɥɯ ︵ (°□°) (mh), Friday, 19 October 2012 20:29 (thirteen years ago)

I'm mostly just scared for this author Mordy apparently plans to murder.

Burgled Hams (Old Lunch), Friday, 19 October 2012 20:33 (thirteen years ago)

just because an author dies doesnt mean its murder, it could be an accident hint hint

--bob marley (lag∞n), Friday, 19 October 2012 20:35 (thirteen years ago)

is that a threat?

Anime Mann (diamonddave85), Friday, 19 October 2012 20:38 (thirteen years ago)

what's great is that in intepreting mordy's comments as being threatening, that's some reverse death of the author shit

乒乓, Friday, 19 October 2012 20:43 (thirteen years ago)

resurrection of the author

ɥɯ ︵ (°□°) (mh), Friday, 19 October 2012 20:44 (thirteen years ago)

i think that WCC's characterization of Mordy as "mansplaining" originated in a number of other threads, and as a result of past behavior, she interpreted his behavior in the button thread as following that pattern.

sarahell, Friday, 19 October 2012 20:59 (thirteen years ago)

past interactions do color one's perceptions of current interactions, right? that is a pretty common phenomenon?

sarahell, Friday, 19 October 2012 21:01 (thirteen years ago)

I don't know that it necessarily completely erodes reading comprehension, though.

Burgled Hams (Old Lunch), Friday, 19 October 2012 21:01 (thirteen years ago)

all of our posts are independent works of art that should be read w/o consideration of the author's behavior

iatee, Friday, 19 October 2012 21:04 (thirteen years ago)

at least thats how I approach ilx

iatee, Friday, 19 October 2012 21:04 (thirteen years ago)

^that post gets a 5.2

racewar driver (k3vin k.), Friday, 19 October 2012 21:07 (thirteen years ago)

and i hope that all the lols at WCC's misunderstanding of Mordy's death of the author reference aren't of the "omg she is crazy and stupid" variety, and are more of the, "what a disaster for communication!" type, because the former comes across as a bit smug and snobby imo

sarahell, Friday, 19 October 2012 21:13 (thirteen years ago)

i put it more in the category of 'seeing what you want to'

probably had something to do with the unique mordy-colored glasses she was wearing ie everything he says is mansplaining/etc

--bob marley (lag∞n), Friday, 19 October 2012 21:17 (thirteen years ago)

all the lols at WCC's misunderstanding of Mordy's death of the author reference

it was an extreme example of how ~everything~ is about her

mookieproof, Friday, 19 October 2012 21:18 (thirteen years ago)

sarahell, Friday, 19 October 2012 21:18 (thirteen years ago)

terrell sug (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 19 October 2012 21:19 (thirteen years ago)

no, it was not by an ilxor, though the person who posted it is friends with a couple other ilxors, none of whom were involved in this recent incident or threads about it

sarahell, Friday, 19 October 2012 21:20 (thirteen years ago)

you see sarah tumblr is a little bit of a social network a little bit a blog, kind of like blogspot crossed w/facebook, do you get it now

--bob marley (lag∞n), Friday, 19 October 2012 21:20 (thirteen years ago)

I would add iPad to that sentence too.

iPad still makes me think of a personalized menstrual product tbh

sarahell, Friday, 19 October 2012 21:30 (thirteen years ago)

well you see sarah, an iPad is not really personalized

乒乓, Friday, 19 October 2012 21:32 (thirteen years ago)

ilxors should be tempbanned for lots of things. temp bans aren't used enough.

it's three days away from ilx, it's not a big deal

congratulations (n/a), Friday, 19 October 2012 21:45 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, was gonna say that, assuming we weren't talking about strapping a notebook to your vag, this is already a thing.

Burgled Hams (Old Lunch), Friday, 19 October 2012 21:55 (thirteen years ago)

actually we are talking about strapping a notebook to your vag
