I do want to clarify that by identifying aero I did not mean to "out" him or anything like that, I was unaware that his name had become such an issue to him as I am not a regular poster/lurker. It didn't occur to me that his name change was meant to conceal his identity, which was stupid of me I suppose. I merely was clarifying who my insult was aimed at, but I can see why it came across as malicious if he has made it clear to ILX that he doesn't want his name mentioned.

Let's not pretend, though, that he didn't actually post under his real name for around 3 years and then having changed his name, made sure to let everyone know who he was. And as part of his power game has - as you guys have let me know - requested that no one reveal this fact. Let's also not pretend he doesn't constantly allude to his career and the idea that his opinion holds more weight than everyone else's.

My own perception of his music and personality aside, I do understand wanting to conceal your identity online (but my issue wrt this whole thing is you kinda secretly don't wanna, or do you, aero?). A few ILXors who do know me personally know I have dealt with situations where because of well-known relatives, my own life has been in danger. My father was repeatedly shot and somehow survived it. *Plenty* other relatives, kidnapped. I was personally followed and threatened for years to the point of becoming strictly home-bound for over a year.

But to suddenly claim you have an issue with 'real-naming' when in reality you were just butthurt about a comment I made (I must have hit a nerve, didn't mean to make you cry, etc.) - it's bullshit. Lbr, the only reason that Ani Di Franco zing wasn't appropriate is she's, y'know, actually famous.

Dude, you have got this entirely the wrong way around - it's not whether you can easily go from aero to $teven Ty1er - though it took me a couple on months when I returned after a gap, and even then the post in question requires you to know a bit about his previous incarnation. It's whether you can look for $teven Ty1er and find aero.

I was not that into Ani Difranco, but my little sister was. My parents made me accompany her to an Ani show at WolfTrap. It's a pretty bitchin' place to see a show; I've seen Phish and the Monkees there as well. A few weeks later, I bought Dilate, but the only track I can remember to this day was "Untouchable Face". That's what a well-placed "fuck you" will earn you, from songwriting perspective. I didn't think she was otherwise memorable though. Anyone here an Ani Difranco fan from way, way back?
