iatee i dont actually think that you are stupid, but i think that your logic/argumentation style is sorta one note and sophomoric. so when shit comes up, i think you sell yourself short and resort to stuff that makes people ignore your points (which might be valid) because any counter to your opinion isn't refuted so much as ignored and derided w/o any sort of rebuttal. so ive def started treating you w/no respect, and thats prob kinda shitty on my part, but w/e you think of me, ilx in general tends to have a sorta short fuse when it comes to peeps that are intrangible and react to questioning w/stonewall crossed-arms harrumphing at the idea of supporting their opinions.

ideas > word police

I think he thinks that we're policing morbs ideas too hard for modern acceptable word usage when he thinks his ideas actually have a certain value, even pre-eminence. It's kind of a 90's PC wars ambivalence that I sometimes share but I also find it a virtue not to let myself get distracted from a would-be valid point by using language I think likely to derail a discussion or cause needless offense.

Well, whatever his thinking was, he's successfully chased me off of political threads for the foreseeable future, so good on him I guess? Lately it seems like ilx is increasingly good at chasing posters off "their" threads, which I think it unfortunate and kind of feeds into the vibe that this place is really insular and impenetrable.

Alfred, not sure who you are asking, but I wasn't defending Morbs or his ideas in the least. Matt made a snarky comment about wanting to trade me for Morbs back, then added the "ideas > word police" thing as a dig at people who were miffed by Morbs' Michelle remark.

I'm not trying to defend morbs egregiously bad behavior recently and I don't know everything behind it but the idea that ppl own their threads seems like a pretty bad precedent to me. You ask a question, you get the answers ppl are bothered to give.
