i would gently suggest that subgenres work differently in metal and there's a lot more disparity.

idk how unified the metal posters are but the goon crew is like the same 10 ppl, all the time, so that's why it doesn't make sense to have separate rolling rap threads

rolling slap bass thread, rolling random metal group w/a dj thread

i think you could argue it either way and regardless my point is that it seems counter to the notion of a rolling thread, and that is inarguable

also would u take anyone seriously who liked ny and texas rap but not southern and cali rap? that kind of thing doesn't seem like it would really happen in rap unless there was some head who was just super deep into one region.

I know jordan didn't campaign about deleting the metal board, so this isn't aimed at him at all, but the rest of you who did campaign to delete the metal board really shouldn't be complaining if there's more metal (or any type of music) threads now on ILM.

well you see, if you did this, the threads wouldn't stick to the top of the board because all the posting would be incredibly fractured & the threads wouldn't gather enough posts to stay that omnipresent (i.e. bee ok making a separate thread for 50 diff pitchfork indie albums, each thread getting 8 posts, and those threads falling off new answers w/in a day)

i campaigned to keep the metal board so i could hide all the threads

the real culprit here is SNA, destroy SNA

in the old days of ilx when i first posted (2001?) threads had categories and sinkah was in charge of that. But i dont think anyone would volunteer now for it, but if it did exist, then i guess you could have hidden specific types BUT most of those campaigning against sub-boards did so because they wanted all music on one board so people could see every thread.

As a metal fan, I know that yes there's lots of subgenres and they don't exactly line up with rap

As an ILX user I know that diarrheaing up the front page with a hair-splitting contest looks terrible and is useful to no one. The metal thread was fine ffs

theoretically no -- but if they're constantly at the top of new answers then it would seem to indicate to me that all the discussion could either be condensed into one thread or into one board

As maybe one of the only goon/metal dudes on ilx I'm gonna have to side firmly with team goon that this is totally useless and only serves to make more .xls metal posting on ilx even more excruciating

it moved too fast and stuff got lost. You start loads of threads whiney so i dont see why it bothers you. Noone is saying all hip hop threads should remain in one thread. You would hate that (and rightly so)

the funny thing about this is that i thought i had fucked up my right index finger, went & got x rays on it and was told that i had "trackpad finger", so i'm v sensitive to your post

if noone wants a separate metal board then all metal threads are done on ILM. it's as simple as that. If you dont like them dont read them. Noone is going around telling goons to stop making threads. ILM is supposed to be for everyone as was made clear by people who were against a sub-board which included those who do like metal and those who dont.

it depends -- when he starts threads about non-current rap i don't have a problem w/ it, but otherwise i think it's stupid
