yngwie j malmsteen in a banana suit threads need to happen

Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 20 March 2011 21:47 (thirteen years ago) link

not sure if this is appropriate for this thread but i was abt to post this in one of the other ones before it was locked.

feel ilx needs a new subboard with new life & flair, i v much <3 1p3 & noize but feel like their legacies loom heavy & are pretty well established

we should poll destroy site new answers i would vote to destroy it. it's irresistible to me but i hate it. think subboards are basically meaningless in a site new answers universe, tho people who use sna should be most irritated abt i \m/ metal clogging it up with unnecessary rolling metal subgenre threads. some ppl have no restraint. also i think stuff like moving that ghost thread from ilm to quarantine metal ghetto is so stupid & just doing the opposite of turning ppl onto cool music--i barely listen to any metal & i fucking love that album. i realize having an enormous ilm rolling thread that moves really fast & consumes itself is not accessible either but u know

well no bcuz you can hide all threads from a certain board, but not specific threads themselves

thanks john/mods, sorry this was such a fuckshow

hi have you heard of I LOVE CRICKET: THE CHINATOWN OF ILX: THE CHINATOWN OF ILX

forget it, max. its chinatown.

this is exactly how i feel about sna

gr8080, Sunday, 20 March 2011 23:21 (thirteen years ago) link

the abuse he seems to pick up from ilm posters baffles me. Same with ilxor, who i only rly spot on running threads.

i think its spelled "ruining"

oh yeah, sna is great.

having to do the work and find good threads on intimidating and cliquish sub boards makes them all the more enjoyable once you find them

gr8080, Monday, 21 March 2011 00:49 (thirteen years ago) link

yea screw these 'spoonfeeding' message boards. back in the day I used to post to a BBS message board where in order to merely read a message, you had to solve complex riddles and dig up old 19th century documentation.

I haven't been following this but

alright i have better fucking things to do today but since people cant just chill out

followed by a three-paragraph diatribe filled with profanity, touching on paranoia, apathy and my running favorite, ILXors acting like children in the eyes of the moderator just doesn't seem very, um, chill to me.

http://tinyurl.com/vroooo0ooooom (Pleasant Plains), Sunday, March 20, 2011 9:00 PM (Yesterday)

yeah well thats because i was anything but chill at that moment because i am less than 2 months from getting married and honestly dont even have the time for normal ilx modding at this point but i had to end up late for a dance lesson w/the mother and father of the bride because it was obvious that certain people were going to continue to escalate and escalate the discussion until i or some other mod weighed in. so yeah it was hardly political and chill, but i never claimed i was going to be chill and frankly i think a bunch of you dudes were being unimaginable assholes about the whole thing. i still get to be a poster on the board despite being a mod btw, and as such when several posters go out of their way to make a thread a totally hostile environment, im going to go ahead and tell them to go fuck themselves, whether im a mod or not. if you dont like that, too bad.

Can I just meekly say that jjj if you're this busy and stressed out (and fuck, rightly so! No issue there) that maybe making big mod decisions like this is a Bad Idea right now and really, I think most people saying "hey what the heck did this happen for?" is a perfectly legit question and not deserving of torrents of "YOU UNGRATEFUL FUXX" abuse but I duno thats just me and I will shoosh again now sorry bye.

bad voise, it sucked, pick a seat (Trayce), Monday, 21 March 2011 02:04 (thirteen years ago) link

well some ppl were being complete dicks---jjj i think u handled this fine despite your busyness/stress/whatev.

that said, if you're going to continue to say things like "i don't even have time for normal ilx modding" then maybe it's time to get some help since you're one of like two mods who will engage the filthy masses on a clusterfuck level.

call all destroyer, Monday, 21 March 2011 02:18 (thirteen years ago) link

also i think stuff like moving that ghost thread from ilm to quarantine metal ghetto

it was never moved. It was always on ilm, the admin log thing was a glitch.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 21 March 2011 02:22 (thirteen years ago) link

trayce - 2 things

1. i didnt actually think this was in any way a "big mod decision" when i did it.
2. at no point did i get into any ungrateful fuxx nonsense, if you read the other thread (the locked one on the now defunct metal board) and dont see why i said some people were being jerks i dont even know how to start tbh

TBH this is the only thing I have any issue with, I got zero beef with you or yr modding generally fwiw :)

Also not at all sayin i think no one was being jerky, but eh *shrug*/

i guess someone could explain to me why there are so many rolling metal threads -- i feel like it defeats the purpose of a rolling thread

blingee cummings (J0rdan S.), Monday, 21 March 2011 03:36 (thirteen years ago) link

dude if you cant understand the value of rolling neo-martial-folk-core-whatever then i dont even know maybe go to live journal or w/e

ice cr?m, Monday, 21 March 2011 03:38 (thirteen years ago) link

eh there may or may not be a desire to have specialized subgenre threads--rolling metal went close to 5k posts last year--there is a feeling that maybe more obscure releases could get some time in a subgenre thread.

call all destroyer, Monday, 21 March 2011 03:39 (thirteen years ago) link

there is going to be a prob w/stuff getting crossposted but whatev, i guess

oh

blingee cummings (J0rdan S.), Monday, 21 March 2011 03:41 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah i dunno, it's a reasonable compromise from the subboard thing--i know you guys would not give a rats ass about a metal subboard but you're not really the "target audience" so

call all destroyer, Monday, 21 March 2011 03:42 (thirteen years ago) link

seems stupid to me -- fruity swag was at 5500 posts last year & everything is cool in one thread, but hey

blingee cummings (J0rdan S.), Monday, 21 March 2011 03:43 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah i feel you--it would not be my pref but i'm fine w/giving it a try--not like ilm is being used for all this other great stuff.

i'm not making a value judgment on who boards better (okay maybe i am) -- i guess i'm just saying that it would seem pointless & confusing if we had "rolling ny rap thread", "rolling southern rap thread", "rolling cali rap thread", "rolling texas rap thread" etc

blingee cummings (J0rdan S.), Monday, 21 March 2011 03:49 (thirteen years ago) link

also prob annoying to everybody else

blingee cummings (J0rdan S.), Monday, 21 March 2011 03:49 (thirteen years ago) link

right because rap and metal match up on a one-to-one level exactly

dayo, Monday, 21 March 2011 03:50 (thirteen years ago) link

i'm not making a one-to-one comparison

blingee cummings (J0rdan S.), Monday, 21 March 2011 03:51 (thirteen years ago) link

i would gently suggest that subgenres work differently in metal and there's a lot more disparity.

call all destroyer, Monday, 21 March 2011 03:51 (thirteen years ago) link

idk how unified the metal posters are but the goon crew is like the same 10 ppl, all the time, so that's why it doesn't make sense to have separate rolling rap threads
