Because I honestly don't want to ban Caek or Three Word Username! If they have an extra mystery SB, it's clearly mine and should be removed!

ok yeah theres a discrepancy wrt to caeks total as well. this is odd.

to darraghmac: yeah actually we've been manually adding sock bans to main poster bans, although thats a bit of a pain in the ass because you have to deduct anyone thats sbed both accounts. no way to automate it tho as of yet so oh the hard and terrible trials of being a mod.

fortunately both caek and TWU are so incredibly far from sb territory that it isnt really a crucial issue at the moment, but im sure once we nail this down we can get it all sorted out xpost

If you want to run socks as be an asshole with both accounts you run the risk of doubling up your SBs imo.

Makes me wonder if my missing emails are being sent to some strange unrecorded limbo, though!

harbl and I had this discussion on a different mod request thread and we determined that because we were banned from certain subboards (me from iltmi & ire, her from 1p3), that messed up the sb and webmail functions. i'm not sure how reliable that theory is since i now seem to be able to SB freely (and afaik i am still banned from those boards) but both of kate's usernames are banned from iltmi iirc so that fits that theory at least

Right now my working theory is that if you have been banned from a subboard, there's a bug where your ban is being counted in some tables but not registering in others; I just checked and darraghmac had been banned from The Church and Kate had the self-ban on ILTMI so I removed the bans and asked them to try again and it seems to work now.

This is a pretty big bug but I think now that we've got an idea of what's going on, it can be addressed. The upshot seems to be as follows:

- your bans are going through but we are having problems seeing them
- there's an off-chance this might be affecting the webmail as well? dunno
