I'm not asking because I don't want to know, but is suggest ban actually working? Every time I hit it, it doesn't do what it used to do (take me to the beginning of the thread, IIRC) it just goes to an empty page. When I do that in trying to send a webmail, the webmail fails. Which makes me wonder if the SB is also not working?

The likely problem is the length of your display name; if it gets too long, it won't fit into the name column in the database and you get weird errors/blank pages when you try to do things.

Try resetting your screen name and hitting it again; if it goes through, that was the problem. If not, something else is happening.

Nope. I now don't have a display name and I still can't do it.

For a moment I wondered if it was the . in my user name but I logged in on the old account and it was the same. Suggest ban obv isn't a big deal but not being able to use webmail to take stuff "off board" as it were is a bit problematic.

What if you try to send a webmail through someone's user name? Do you get a blank screen then?

Okay I just tried that and it went to a blank page. Don't know if that means the mail's been sent or not.

Two separate issues:
1. Been having intermittent problems w/gmail (who send ILX Robot messages). Just sent a webmail to the Karen D account, and it seems to have sent OK.

2. Suggest Bans. Have a very few errors in the log here, but nothing from Karen D. Just SBd a couple of people and they took. Will keep an eye on it.

I've always gotten the blank screen after a SB, but I assumed my SBs were still being applied.

I got emails from both Stet and Dan, I'll try sending one from here again to see if it works.

I have sent webmails to both Stet and Dan, it went to a blank page, so let me know if anything turns up. I still haven't had a webmail from NV.

I was sort of comfortably not caring whether my SBs worked or evaporated off into the void but...there is much work still to do

What really sucks for me is, I had kind of got into the habit of hitting suggest ban a couple of times when the usual eejits kicked off, to blow off my tension instead of flaming back. Now I *know* for a fact that that has absolutely no effect at all, it takes away that release and I'm a heck of a lot more tempted to flame back (also safe in the knowledge that a good proportion of their SB's won't "take" either).

Sad but true. :-(
