ILTMI is sometimes interesting and that has nothing to do with Kate's involvement. Strip her of mod privileges or give her another board, whatever, but it's NAGL for mods to be throwing temper tantrums and deleting threads for no reason.

hopefully kate will cool down tomorrow, i think it's probably best to wait til then at least

also guys Kate is having it pretty rough atm (I know this, from the Twitters) and I think maybe in this instance a pile-on isn't the sensitive or proper thing to do? we usually have little trouble from her ILTMI modding...one little episode that wasn't exactly malicious while the poor gal's in a seriously depressed phase ain't doing anyone favours. I say drop it, lock thread, etc

that's true, whenever i'm having a rough time of things, the LAST thing i ever do is apologize for throwing temper tantrums. sorry lj, if mb wants to make it public (or at least ilx-public) that she's going through a rough patch and that she had a bad day, then fine, i'll take it at face value. but a third party defense that her twitter feed indicates depression or whathaveyou doesn't make me any less annoyed about the situation.

yeah, this kinda shit is why i banned kate from iltmi -- which originally was my idea and tuomas's as well -- and got permanently deleted as a mod from said board lol

FWIW as the "do nothing" member of site mods I think there is nowhere where a policy of extreme inaction benefits more than ILTMI. People offend and disgust me all the time on that board, but that means there is a corner of the world where it is OK to offend & disgust people. Taking a mod action on a board that isn't being tracked and not telling anyone, including the other other sitemods, about what you are doing is bad modding. If there was a reason behind it, if it had been written up the mods Kate contacted could have communicated better with her. She may still be angry, but there would be answer. As it stands right now, we have nothing to say other than "we don't know what happened". That doesn't help anyone.

If 'who unbanned kenan' is a big question, then 'when/how did kate get ILTMI mod powers back' is another one, i think

as of right now, I am not 100% convinced they were ever actually taken away

actually I wonder if there's some weird cache interaction happening here where attempting to do something at a certain time gets ignored because the site is running maintenance tasks

How long is this clusterfuck going to go on for?

1) I banned Kenan (and a couple of other guys who had posted) from the thread because, as stated, several people on the thread (myself, Nijoli and someone else) said that they felt uncomfortable sharing intimate details of their personal lives for fear of mockery, among other things. Kenan, to give him credit, at least tried to contact me about this, though I was unable to respond, as he did not provide an email address where we could discuss it further.

2) Someone removed the ban. I contacted several moderators asking what the policy on this was. I asked, if I was not going to be allowed to moderate, to have my moderation privileges revoked and to be removed from the board. Only one mod replied, saying that he was too busy with personal issues to get involved (fair enough). There was no other response.

3) When there was no response, I banned both of my accounts from TMI. If anyone had been curious or concerned about that, well, NOT ONE PERSON bothered to webmail or email me or ask me what had happened, they just went straight to opening up the old clusterfuck thread yet again.

4) I yet again wrote to several more mods, explaining my actions yet again, and asking for this thread to be locked. I have been removed from moderation, I have been removed from TMI. I do not know what else you want? A public execution?

I do not understand this thread is kept being kept open for the usual round of clusterfuck, character assassination, grandstanding and just all around fucking drama that gets dragged out whenever my name is even *mentioned* on the mod board, whether I am involved or not. I gather you lot seem to enjoy doing this, because I certainly do not.

I am asking yet again for this thread to be locked since none of the moderators have responded to any of my emails. Enough is enough.
