i love caliendo's impression but not enough to sit through all that other shit~

despite my hate for fox's cow-pedophilia, i have to say that the moose and aikman are solid analysts.

oh god the worst team (ie the Browns) in the AFC North (and Central) always got stuck with Criqui. It got to point where Don was doing cleveland preseason games.

in the late 80s early/mid 90s the worst team in the afc (usually the pats) always got stuck with beasley reece. and then there was that one year where beasley was teamed with joe willie namath, it was like nbc didn't want people in the northeast watching football or something.

i was watching fox this weekend with my girlfriend and she'd never seen the halftime show before. trying to explain the purpose of bradshaw/long/jimmy and their dynamic was difficult because i can't even explain it to myself, really.

ALSO HATE: the stupid robot football player that does warmup exercises on the bumper graphics...they've been using that for what seems like forever

will echo the praise of aikman though, and i didn't really think he would be good at all.

can we have a breathless documentary about the foxing of american sports?

no more robots! stop yelling at me! why do i need extra special sound effects besides those provided by the game?

Jimmy Kimmel could pick some games when he was the resident comedian on Fox's pregame.

To be honest, I'd rather watch pro bowling than pre-football on Fox, I can only take so much on the greatness of the Cowboys. I watched the NFL network last week and they seem to focus on actual game match ups than Favre having fun or check out the raunchy fake blonde giving the weather in Seattle. Parcells is back on ESPN and he is generally a bit more entertaining than some doing the preview stuff.

Daryl Johnston is not bad doing games for Fox either.

Gus Johnson is my favorite play by play guy, mostly just for the manic energy. That dude can get you excited about the Cardinals vs. the Bills, he just is into it. Gus is even nuttier doing college hoop in March.

Gus has alot of enthusiasm but blows calls wildly during acutual play by play. It isn't a big deal though as I can suss out what's going on- I'll give him credit for making a Jets/Browns game watchable.

I keep forgetting I have NFL Network. Haven't watched it since last season.

So I guess Frank is getting his own show called Frank TV on TBS, and it looks excruciating.

Rich Little is poised for the comeback that the WH Correspondents Dinner failed to provide.

I've only seen the debut episode, but based on that, this is OTM.

Merely being able to do good impressiones does not = good television if you can't do anything interesting with them. Seinfeld in 2029? come on.

Jimmy Kimmel was actually pretty good at calling games, he could have probably opened up one of those 1-900 hot pick numbers with Randy White.

what the fuck is it with sports shows and their caliendo obsession? i saw an ESPN "top ten" on sportscenter the other night and #6 or something was frank caliendo doing some lame impressions during a radio show. i'm so sick of this guy.

his shit reminds me of people losing their shit over tina fey doing palin on snl. yeah the impressions are good but there are no jokes there at all

the jokes come easy for palin and the lols are timely and her impression is A+, though, whereas caliendo is still doing tony soprano and donald trump.

I admire Caliendo. He strikes me as a guy who knows exactly how limited his skills are, and yet he's parlayed that into a career that doesn't require him to constantly do impressions on local sports talk shows at 5 in the morning anymore. He is like the David Eckstein of comedy ... a talentless, hardworking guy who is overrated by the morons who run our culture.

I still kinda like impressionists! The entire joke is the impression. I used to love Rich Little growing up despite the fact that he had no jokes either /doctro morbs.

I don't have cable so I rarely see him but I get a kick out of him when I do.
