josh mcdaniels confirmed as new head coach of the indianapolis colts. instead of being behind belichick he can spend some time behind his old qbs coach instead.

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 6 February 2018 17:18 (two years ago) link

lol rooney rule

mookieproof, Tuesday, 6 February 2018 17:23 (two years ago) link

i mean, outside of the process itself, ok josh is one of the most qualified hc candidates out there, but things like mike vrabel hire at ten, and greg olson at oak too, have not been inspiring appointments in this regard. coordinator level is the real ugly scene that makes the hc level such a problem. i believe i am correct in saying there is 1 black oc in the whole nfl. i think flores at ne will make it around 10 black dcs but cmon, this shit is horrendous.

i'm sure this is already being speculated but first thing i think is that bill told him this is going to be his last year. i did see that luck supposedly needs more surgery on his shoulder tho, and that might've been enough to foul it.

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 7 February 2018 02:34 (two years ago) link

i think you're supposed to wait a whole day to go full belichick

Jimmy G has started less than 10 games in the NFL and now has two Super Bowl rings and the biggest contract in NFL history. A true inspiration to those that let their partners do all of the work on group projects

Mordy, Thursday, 22 February 2018 23:07 (two years ago) link

3rd highest cap hit for 2018 to be precise but yeah. not sure what to make of him tbh, depending on who you ask or what stats you use he's either one of the most effective wrs in the league or he holds the entire offense back. he always looks kind of medium to me.

very curious to see what miami does with him eventually. something dumb, probably

Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 23 February 2018 00:25 (two years ago) link

So anyone have any opinion on the idea that the Vikings are going to clear the decks of QBs to go after Kurt Cousins? I was thinking prevailing belief was that Denver was his destination.

earlnash, Wednesday, 28 February 2018 02:41 (two years ago) link

i think it's weird there isn't one of those qbs that they like. what's wrong with keenum?

Mordy, Wednesday, 28 February 2018 03:02 (two years ago) link

not sure there is a huge delta between the vikes qbs and cousins. i wonder what kind of money the vikes guys are angling for. a smart qb-needy team could hold out to see who is the last man standing there and get a few years of a serviceable qb for cut rate.

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 28 February 2018 03:24 (two years ago) link

feel like keenum will have to put up several seasons of brees-like numbers before people stop thinking he's too $hort

mookieproof, Wednesday, 28 February 2018 03:33 (two years ago) link

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the final four teams expected to be in the running for his services are the Broncos, Cardinals, Jets, and Vikings.

Let's see.

Jets -- ANY dude that willing walks into that club has to know in the end, it won't work out. Forget it Kirk, it's the Jets.

Cardinals - They lost for nearly 40 years and had a couple of decent teams. Probably the lowest pressure place to go.

Vikings -- They are the best team and last year was very close. Can they repeat that and take that next step, it's a hard thing to do. Will they be setting fire to the future by signing such an expensive player. I'd say this team would be the highest pressure to join as really anything less than getting to a Superbowl is a failure next year.

Broncos - They still have quite a bit of talent and the club has been good about finding players. While improvement would be expected, would not be expected to 'win it all' as much as be in the playoff discussions.

Andrew Luck retired wtf

omar little, Sunday, 25 August 2019 03:02 (seven months ago) link

After the game, Luck announced the retirement decision during an impromptu news conference; he said an official announcement wasn't planned until Sunday afternoon but changed course once news broke during the preseason game.

"I've been stuck in this process," he said, stopping several times to overcome his emotions. "I haven't been able to live the life I want to live. It's taken the joy out of this game ... the only way forward for me is to remove myself from football."

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Sunday, 25 August 2019 15:10 (seven months ago) link

I tend to believe that almost anyone who plays in the NFL is 100% committed to the sport so I'm guessing this really was the only option for him. Poor guy, hope he got paid and gets to pursue his other dreams now. Funny to think the NFL's 'talent drain' problem first seemed to come to light around the time when Luck & RG3 got drafted, when the word was "finally we are going to have some great young QBs again"...this is pretty much the worst possible scenario for the NFL

frogbs, Monday, 26 August 2019 15:01 (seven months ago) link

there's a couple more generational prospects coming up the pipeline in the next couple years, but yeah, i guess the nfl can't really count on them to define their league for 15 years anymore.

jakey mo collier (voodoo chili), Monday, 26 August 2019 15:18 (seven months ago) link

there are a lot of talented young QBs right now tho - watson, mahomes, wentz, goff, newton, cousins, jackson, mayfield, maybe winston? ok some question marks around some of those guys but a few of those could be good to all time greats depending on how their careers go.

Antonio Brown's apology tour continued Wednesday morning with an Instagram post directed at quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

The former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver posted a photo of Roethlisberger smiling and slapping the back of Brown's helmet when the two played together, along with a caption that praised Roethlisberger.

"Mostly you a little bit of me !" Brown wrote. "Yee yee !! I never realized how good I had it, got caught up in my emotion with everyone coming after me I really apologize for my actions sincerely man ! It's never been another connection like what we done in the past decade. I appreciate you. Sincerely AB."

One game with Brady and zero with Derek Carr really changed his perspective.

I'm guessing Alex Smith is pretty much done, not coming back? I have not heard any discussion of him coming back from the broken leg or if he had hung them up.

Got looking at some passing career passing stats of Fitzmagic and went onto Smiths' football reference page. Smiths' career record is 94-66-1, which is pretty good considering every coach was near replacing him each season he played.
