Asking for Tony Romo?
― Moodles, Monday, 22 January 2018 15:14 (six years ago) link
I know Romo gets clowned on a lot but I legitimately love him as a broadcaster. even saying "alright! here we go!" a dozen times a game doesn't wear on me like I thought it would.
― frogbs, Monday, 22 January 2018 15:16 (six years ago) link
well the car company of the same name is from the city i grew up in and my dad worked there so i thought i knew for sure that there are 3 syllables, but yesterday i learned from tony romo that it is pronounced "jag-wires"
― Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 22 January 2018 15:16 (six years ago) link
our other romo observation yesterday was that nearly every single play is introduced as "this is a really big play here". lots of big plays when you get this deep in the offs
― Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 22 January 2018 15:18 (six years ago) link
vikings have the best defense at stopping 3rd down conversions since the stat started to be tracked in 1991nick foles has the worst 3rd down conversion % among starting qbs this year
10/11, 159yds, 2 TDs, 0 INTs
― Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 22 January 2018 15:31 (six years ago) link
hah -- i didn't see either game yesterday so i didn't know about romo
i do like him a lot, kinda wonder when the excitement will be ground out of him and he turns into aikman

Got to love Philly fans for doing things like punching a police horse before the game while getting busted for drunk and disorderly conduct.
― earlnash, Monday, 22 January 2018 17:55 (six years ago) link
Foals' performance reminded me of Kerry Collins' 2000 NFC Championship game performance. I can't remember the last time, other than Collins, where a pretty mediocre quarterback has a game for the ages in a conference title game. Hopefully Foals doesn't shit the bed like Collins did in the Super Bowl, though.

foles isn't bad he's just v streaky. he's still in the HOF and had an insane season in 2013. check out this if you didn't already know: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/pass_rating_single_season.htm
― Mordy, Monday, 22 January 2018 19:26 (six years ago) link
I'm sure having LeSean and DeSean helped a lot there. And it's only 10 games. But still....those are some all time numbers. Everyone else who's had a season like that has been a slam dunk Hall of Famer. Foles didn't even make it another year.
― frogbs, Monday, 22 January 2018 19:35 (six years ago) link
i'm not going to say that any qb could've had foles's 2013 season since i have seen nfl qbs miss wide open receivers enough times, but that season was 100% scheme and foles was just making uncontested throws to wide open dudes. for one year chip's offense was a legit phenomenon in pro ball, sui generis, and other teams needed all season long to figure out how to counter it. foles has been below average to bad nearly every other game he played outside the season, until last night's performance where a couple times that worked dudes wide open e.g. the jeffrey bomb, but he was just making incredible plays otherwise. that one game means more to the evaluation of foles than the whole of 2013 imo.
― Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 22 January 2018 20:11 (six years ago) link
only 2 qbs have ever completed more than 75% of their passes in two back-to-back playoff games. that's a kind of lol stat but still.
