I can't believe that App State/Michigan game was 10 years ago. The revisit piece on Gameday was excellent, though, even if I knew the ending already.

I'm not sure who started that formation where they use 3 personal protectors back about 4-5 yards in front of the punter, but the more often I see it, I see teams getting punts blocked.

couple crazy upsets this wk, liberty beating baylor & howard beating unlv

According to FPI, Liberty had a 2.2 percent chance of beating Baylor, making it the second-biggest FPI upset in the past 10 years. The only bigger upset was Howard's 43-40 stunner over UNLV later Saturday. Howard, a 45-point underdog, had a 1.2 percent chance to win, according to FPI.

After Penn State got revenge on Pittsburgh with a 33-14 win on Saturday at Beaver Stadium, Nittany Lions head coach James Franklin threw some shade at his in-state rivals.

"For their win last year it was like winning the Super Bowl," he said, via Onward State. "For us this year, it was like beating Akron."

Florida receiver was much too speedy for the lone defender in his part of the field, but Tennessee should have had more defenders back and they should have been deeper. so, lol tennessee.

I texted my dad last night during the Bama game and said, "Do you know the last time Alabama topped 60 points in a game? Because I honestly can't."

He didn't know.

They came back from commercial on ESPN and said it hadn't happened since 1966...so, like, eight years before I was even born.

This team looks ferocious.

Watched IU play Michigan in person yesterday. IU played as hard as they could but could not pull off the upset in OT.

Looking at writing online after the game, there is all sorts of people dogging out the fact that the endzone part of the stadium wasn't full and that people don't care.

Criminy, keep in mind IU has had like 10 winning seasons since the Big Ten started in 1953. They only filled in that back part of the end zone expanding the capacity of the stadium to keep up with the Jones and have a huge "football office" like the big schools. Even still, back in the 90s you could still get a ticket for like $8 bucks and now most of them are over $20 to $50.

I'm kinda surprised they do as well as they do and the big reason is that the tailgate is just a fun party to see people you went to college at. There are shirts that are like "IU Football: Never Lost a Party".

To me, it almost seems like those huge football schools should just break off into some other 'semipro' league and let college football just be a different thing.

Been on a road trip for work, so I stayed in and watched the Georgia and Alabama games. Both look good. Georgia's got a pretty impressive o-line as they often really pushed South Carolina around. Georgia did some pretty stupid penalties at times, but their defense has some good speed. LSU didn't have enough offense to really challenge Alabama, but their defense looks decent. SEC championship game is probably going to be one of the big ones as it will probably eliminate one or the other.

This Terrapin Golden Ale I got down here in the ATL is good stuff. Went and did two loads of laundry and this old dude was hustlin' to get his stuff done as he was telling this fine lady he had to get back to the house to watch the Dawgs. Listening to 107.9 - they got car insurance commercials here that sound like Outkast.

earlnash, Sunday, 5 November 2017 03:21 (six years ago) link

qb battle for Bama in the spring should be an interesting one

tbh, every time Tua's gotten to play mop up in a game, he's looked great. I'd wondered if he'd ever see actual competitive game time this season. Now that he has, he feels like the qb I've been waiting for for a long time.

EXCLUSIVE: Longtime Urban Meyer assistant Zach Smith's ex-wife, Courtney Smith, opens up about reported domestic violence and what she believes Meyer knew. pic.twitter.com/dNWA9x2F4y

— Stadium (@WatchStadium) August 1, 2018

The ex-wife of former Ohio State assistant football coach Zach Smith, who was fired in July, says several people close to Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer, including his wife, knew of a 2015 allegation of domestic violence against Smith.

"All the [coaches'] wives knew," Courtney Smith told college football reporter Brett McMurphy in a story posted on his Facebook page. "They all did. Every single one."

Smith told Stadium that she believes that Meyer also knew at the time.

"I do believe he knew and instead he chose to help the abuser and enable the abuser and believe whatever story Zach was telling everybody," Smith said.
