i am unfamiliar with the work of andy grammer. seems terrible. i mean, aretha was already there! they could've at least gotten her to sing the anthem some more.

I know we are not as die hard on the weekly threads like in seasons past, but this quote seemed potentially title worthy for next week.

"You can rub dirt on a lot of things, but you can't rub dirt on the brain,"

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/18114166/steelers-qb-ben-roethlisberger-colts-qb-andrew-luck-smart-concussion-protocol

Got to wonder why Dak Prescott fell as far as he did in the draft. The guy's college resume was pretty impressive being that good in the SEC. I'm guessing it is because he was 6-2 and not 6-6.

earlnash, Friday, 25 November 2016 02:54 (two years ago) Permalink

i can believe that. there's a lot of nfl scouts and personnel dudes that like to talk about how they knew russell wilson was going to outplay his size but there's still now few who will actually take a high pick outside the recommended physical attributes and dimensions, at qb or even at other positions.

antonio brown, jedi knight

Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 25 November 2016 04:45 (two years ago) Permalink

wasn't there fear that Wilson literally wouldn't be able to see over a bigger-sized line? I saw a Sports Science on it and it seemed like a legit concern to me

frogbs, Friday, 25 November 2016 15:21 (two years ago) Permalink

Russell Wilson is listed at 5-11. Drew Bree's is listed at 6 ft but supposedly is oy like a bit under that.

Dak's last two years at MSU stats are pretty darn good.

earlnash, Friday, 25 November 2016 22:01 (two years ago) Permalink

schedule at top of thread is old, broncos chiefs now the evening game, pats jets at 4.25

Roberto Spiralli, Sunday, 27 November 2016 14:12 (two years ago) Permalink

once again I am excited about a game nobody else in the world will care about.

stunned that my once-dead team might have a shot at the playoffs.

I still don't know who is "great" vs 'good' this year outside of the Cowboys, Patriots, and Seahawks. not necessarily a bad thing tho.

Neanderthal, Sunday, 27 November 2016 14:27 (two years ago) Permalink

scott hanson talking up how much better jared goff looks this weeks vs last. somehow completely failed to mention the saints defense

Roberto Spiralli, Sunday, 27 November 2016 19:39 (two years ago) Permalink

Goff can't keep up with how bad the Rams defense is paying.

schwantz, Sunday, 27 November 2016 19:52 (two years ago) Permalink

just like they drew it up

Roberto Spiralli, Sunday, 27 November 2016 22:33 (two years ago) Permalink

RIP Gronk
RIP Bennett
RIP 2016-17 season

Al Moon Faced Poon (Moodles), Sunday, 27 November 2016 23:14 (two years ago) Permalink

presumably knee, he did jar it p hard when he fell, but he is moving around ok on sideline at least. fuck knows with gronk, out with a different injury to the one he already had...

Roberto Spiralli, Sunday, 27 November 2016 23:16 (two years ago) Permalink

Bennett bounced back pretty quickly, the season goes on...

Al Moon Faced Poon (Moodles), Monday, 28 November 2016 01:10 (two years ago) Permalink

I'd really like to see the Raiders actually play a game, but they have not been on TV much this year. Every game they play seems to be pretty exciting going by the highlights.

earlnash, Monday, 28 November 2016 01:44 (two years ago) Permalink

They will probably be on TV every week next year when they go 6-10.

earlnash, Monday, 28 November 2016 01:44 (two years ago) Permalink

They were on TV in Austin today

Al Moon Faced Poon (Moodles), Monday, 28 November 2016 02:59 (two years ago) Permalink

Andy Reid team again with no timeouts when they might need them.

earlnash, Monday, 28 November 2016 04:29 (two years ago) Permalink

well

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 28 November 2016 04:42 (two years ago) Permalink

amazing 4th/OT. would've been kinda sad end if that had bounced out. this division is p nuts.

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 28 November 2016 05:27 (two years ago) Permalink

oh my god the ending to that game

I know Kubiak is getting destroyed for trying the 62-yard FG, but I feel like (in Denver) it was probably the right call, wasn't it?

frogbs, Monday, 28 November 2016 14:05 (two years ago) Permalink

i have thought about this probably too much. kicking the FG gives outcome probabilities of something like 20% denver wins, 75% kc wins, vs punting which gives denver maybe 2% to win and kc say 25%. the decision is about the division standings. i think denver's goal has to be to catch up with oakland in 1st more than it is to keep level with kansas city in 2nd. so i think the only thing that should factor into the decision is the 20% vs 2% for denver to win. i believe it was the right call.

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 28 November 2016 14:38 (two years ago) Permalink

also long FG try has to be higher % than going for 1st down from 4th and 10 in this game

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 28 November 2016 14:41 (two years ago) Permalink

75% of a KC win after missing seems pretty high. only 1:08 (KC did have one timeout) and they were at the 44-yard line...KC would still need to pick up about 30 yards to get a 45-yard FG try.

frogbs, Monday, 28 November 2016 14:45 (two years ago) Permalink

they got possession on the denver side of the field. even so, 75% prob a bit too high, just illustrative.

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 28 November 2016 14:56 (two years ago) Permalink

when you miss a field goal, does the other team get possession at the line of scrimmage or at the spot of the kick? I thought it was like an incomplete pass. I guess I wasn't paying too much attention to the broadcast. Because if they were in Denver territory to start off, then yeah, maybe 75% isn't too far off. Still have to get a first down I guess.

KC's WR numbers still seem pretty bad, I would imagine going 40+ yards after a punt with a little over a minute and one TO would be very difficult for them. Isn't there a website that exists solely to analyze decisions like this?

frogbs, Monday, 28 November 2016 15:23 (two years ago) Permalink

yeah it's spot of the kick. kc were moving the ball a little better in OT because the defenses were gassed so it would've been a little easier than you might think but still unlikely. again, the way i would make that decision i don't think kc's chance to win the game is relevant, a tie does so little for denver.

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 28 November 2016 15:31 (two years ago) Permalink

Tyreek Hill is really good, but never forget that he beat the shit out of his pregnant girlfriend.

Mr. Snrub, Monday, 28 November 2016 16:24 (two years ago) Permalink

that's ok, his team and commissioner have already forgotten it for you

Neanderthal, Monday, 28 November 2016 22:43 (two years ago) Permalink

this fucking ubiquitous thing of having two dickheads shout ignorant takes at each other is what's actually going to kill the nfl

Here was a take on how the Cowboys came to draft Dak in the 4th round.
