Ben's close to acquiring a ring and Kristy's close to acquiring that third chin.
Advantage: Steelers.

Also: CREEEEEEPY to think of someone blowing up your seventh grade dance photo and writing "THANKS FOR THE DANCE" on it and holding it up in public.

His outfit really isn't of the same level of formality as hers, I note.

And now, a glimpse into the private life of Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger: Saying, "I have no personal life," he admitted that it's now so difficult to go out in public it's easier to meet women on the Internet than in person. And the worst part about being at the Super Bowl? Leaving his Rottweiler, Zeus, at home. "If I could have my dog here it would be perfect, but Coach Cowher wouldn't let me bring him," he said.

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 16:09 (eighteen years ago) link

Who'll post to ILX first? Spec. Ryan Diehl or Ben Roethlisberger?

I don't understand why the article doesn't tell us where to find Big Ben online. I am considering going to his blog and leaving a link to the board but I will wait until after the Super Bowl, because I don't want my comment to get buried in a cavalcade of middle aged ladies scoping his buttwishing him luck in the game.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 20:15 (eighteen years ago) link

I really just want to bring his amazing writing style to I*heart*NFL.

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 21:27 (eighteen years ago) link

do you think Ben eagerly talked about bringing Zeus along to the Super Bowl in front of the guys and they all regarded him with quiet sympathy as Cowher had to gently take him into the office, where he told Ben the news. of course the others couldn't hear the news, but when Ben lowered his head and bit his quivering lower lip, they knew all too well: the dog stayed home.

BETTIS: Are you gay?

ROETHLISBERGER: Gay? I wish! If I were gay they'd be no problem! No, what I have is a romantic abnormality, one so unbelievable that it must be hidden from the public at all cost. You see...

BETTIS: Stop!

I am disappointed to know that he plans to shave the beard after the game. Maybe if they win, he will keep it? He will be like the reverse Polamalu.

I found some other blogs:

Ahman Green
Derrick Brooks
Antonio Pierce

TOMBOT, Wednesday, 1 February 2006 22:40 (eighteen years ago) link

I like how Derrick's caps lock got stuck in December and he's yet to notice.

OMG at Antonio Pierce's Livejournal stylings:

WHY
12/13/05

Sometimes bad things happen at times when everything seems to going great, to see how you will respond. Well for me this is the time I am being challenged, not by anyone but me to see how quick and can recover to help my team get to the SUPERBOWL. I would like to thank all the fans who have wrote with concern with my injury, and I will say this as depressed or down I was reading those comments brought nothing but smiles to my face. For once I feel people are starting to appreciate the things I do on and off the field. Well, back to business and NY GIANTS lets get those towels waving and energy pumping in this stadium this weekend for another G MAN VICTORY..

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 23:08 (eighteen years ago) link

It's not just his caps lock that got stuck. It's like he got brain damage or something.

Tho he covers all his bases:

Green's blog is kind of sad, the way he basically just didn't post a damn thing during the season and has come back last week to chat about his film interests.

Also this puppy picture from upthread is clearly a puppy being held by a member of Patriots, check out his hand!
