basically the same age and gronks better

lag∞n, Tuesday, 27 August 2019 20:28 (six years ago)

gronk had been hinting about it for a year and luck kept it quiet

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 27 August 2019 20:29 (six years ago)

also gronk's condition felt more dire and he seemed more 'used up', so there was not as much surprise.

A is for (Aimless), Tuesday, 27 August 2019 20:41 (six years ago)

major difference in timing. one was not long after after winning a title the other was right before the season started.

big city slam (Spottie), Tuesday, 27 August 2019 20:45 (six years ago)

I think also a QB leaving is much more earthshaking wrt a franchise’s future plans.

omar little, Tuesday, 27 August 2019 20:47 (six years ago)

speaking of Gronk, this is pretty nuts

https://deadspin.com/rob-gronkowski-says-he-couldnt-sleep-for-weeks-after-a-1837622174

I think the difference is pretty clear, Gronk is one of the best ever & has the rings to show for it, while Luck's career still feels incomplete...he won 4 playoff games, only making it as far as the AFCCG one time. also Gronk had injured so many different parts of his body that I think even some Pats fans were begging him to retire

frogbs, Tuesday, 27 August 2019 20:47 (six years ago)

it is freaky when you look at the film and it was a totally routine and legal hit and it fucked up his quad that badly

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 27 August 2019 20:48 (six years ago)

luck was totally injury prone too

lag∞n, Tuesday, 27 August 2019 20:51 (six years ago)

i saw some stat that over his first three seasons he took 60 more hits than any other qb in that timeframe.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 27 August 2019 20:59 (six years ago)

Probably didn't help that Luck was basically asking defenders to hit him harder.

In hindsight, maybe not the best strategy.

lag∞n, Monday, 9 September 2019 02:15 (six years ago)

They are utterly destroying the Steelers, and we haven't even seen what they are like with Antonio Brown yet. Good lord.

Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Monday, 9 September 2019 02:17 (six years ago)

lag∞n, Monday, 9 September 2019 02:38 (six years ago)

back before his substance abuse probs when he was much younger and skinnier the main thing i remember is that if he got his hands on the ball it was a catch.

the nfl is so absurd guys

Дарья (daria-g), Tuesday, 10 September 2019 03:51 (six years ago)

So the Antonio Brown acquisition went from cool surprise to utter shitstorm rather quickly

Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Thursday, 12 September 2019 01:41 (six years ago)

idk depending on what corner of the media you were consuming it was always a shitstorm? like he conspired to get himself released b/c the patriots tampered and he knew he had a soft landing on a contender or whatever ideas were out there. there is definitely an element of local boston media that was extra sanctimonious about this before the civil suit news broke.

this is a depressing statement to make but these types of civil suits are so common nowadays and it's hard to know what to think of them.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 12 September 2019 02:06 (six years ago)

I'd argue there's an order of magnitude difference in ugliness between NFL backroom dealings and rape accusations.

Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Thursday, 12 September 2019 02:42 (six years ago)

three weeks pass...

brady finally fading and now the patriots have the best defense ever lol

are you READY..

Дарья (daria-g), Monday, 4 November 2019 01:23 (six years ago)

Their two top WRs are gone, and they are actually playing a good team for once. Not feeling great about this one. Their 4th down brain fart didn't help.

Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Monday, 4 November 2019 01:35 (six years ago)

pats gettin wrecked!

lag∞n, Monday, 4 November 2019 01:46 (six years ago)

Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Monday, 4 November 2019 01:53 (six years ago)
