Congratulations to local football star and Alabama Crimson Tide's Damian Harris getting drafted by the Pats in the 3rd round. It is a pretty good draft slot choice for a running back. Getting drafted later by a good team can lead to stardom much more so than early pick on a crap club.

Saw a regional news paper article saying Harris was looking really good in mini-camp and that the running back corp could be a real strength on this years club. If Harris can catch the ball, which I doubt he got many shots at catching at Alabama, he could be a more potent offensive weapon.

Clubs are throwing more to the running back these days anyway, so this could be something they might do since they won't have as prominent a receiver at TE.

gronk had been hinting about it for a year and luck kept it quiet

also gronk's condition felt more dire and he seemed more 'used up', so there was not as much surprise.

major difference in timing. one was not long after after winning a title the other was right before the season started.

I think the difference is pretty clear, Gronk is one of the best ever & has the rings to show for it, while Luck's career still feels incomplete...he won 4 playoff games, only making it as far as the AFCCG one time. also Gronk had injured so many different parts of his body that I think even some Pats fans were begging him to retire

it is freaky when you look at the film and it was a totally routine and legal hit and it fucked up his quad that badly

luck was totally injury prone too

i saw some stat that over his first three seasons he took 60 more hits than any other qb in that timeframe.

Probably didn't help that Luck was basically asking defenders to hit him harder.
