k3vin k., Monday, 10 December 2018 00:36 (seven years ago)

cowboys had the ball for over 45 minutes— that can’t happen too often

mookieproof, Monday, 10 December 2018 01:11 (seven years ago)

imo philly played as well defensively as any team who has ever given up 576 yards

the defense was pretty awful but they did have some nicely timed takeaways and tackles for loss, as well as dallas penalties. I know complaining about officiating is pointless, but that non-overturn on the opening kickoff and the phantom call on goddaert late in the 4th were pretty egregious

Sebastian Janikowski in that all line green Seahawks uni is hilarious.

Very ugly

Celtoes Adidas (Spottie), Tuesday, 11 December 2018 04:11 (seven years ago)

#Eagles QB Carson Wentz, dealing with a back issue, is not expected to play this week, sources say. Depending on the result, given the time of year, Wentz may not play again in 2018. The team is still gathering info on his health.

frogbs, Wednesday, 12 December 2018 16:44 (seven years ago)

that was a really fun game.

тпсбlack (Spottie), Friday, 14 December 2018 05:19 (seven years ago)

just wanna say going for 2 at the end like that is awesome

frogbs, Friday, 14 December 2018 05:23 (seven years ago)

yeah that was great stuff. and how easy the play ended up being was hilarious

тпсбlack (Spottie), Friday, 14 December 2018 05:32 (seven years ago)

theoretically you should probably go for 2 every time vs. the Chiefs

frogbs, Friday, 14 December 2018 05:37 (seven years ago)

easy money

тпсбlack (Spottie), Friday, 14 December 2018 05:41 (seven years ago)

I'm interested in the Colts as they have been completely off the national TV radar, I have not seen them play this season. Cowboys looked pretty good the last couple of games I have seen, so Indy swatting them down in a shutout like that has me curious. From what I am reading, the Colts have a young defense and o-line that is starting to really figure it out and are as balanced right now as they have ever been.

earlnash, Sunday, 16 December 2018 23:04 (seven years ago)

amazing that the AFC South has 3 teams with winning records, none of which is the one that nearly made the Super Bowl last year

k3vin k., Monday, 24 December 2018 03:06 (seven years ago)

Mordy, Monday, 31 December 2018 00:41 (seven years ago)

I really reaaly wish the Browns could’ve pulled that one out. Oh well. Great season. The future is bright.

Mr. Snrub, Monday, 31 December 2018 02:11 (seven years ago)

Felt really weird to cheer for the Bears today

frogbs, Monday, 31 December 2018 02:20 (seven years ago)

time for a playoffs thread?

Mordy, Monday, 31 December 2018 02:21 (seven years ago)

CINCINNATI -- The Bengals have parted ways with longtime coach Marvin Lewis, who endorsed his friend Hue Jackson as his replacement.

Lewis had one season remaining on a contract extension he signed last year. In a statement, the team said the decision was mutual.

omar little, Monday, 31 December 2018 17:55 (seven years ago)

considering how fucking cheap the bengals are, it's surprising they canned him with a year left on his contract

i also endorse hue jackson as his replacement just for the baker mayfield lolz

mookieproof, Monday, 31 December 2018 20:30 (seven years ago)

Marvin Lewis is a decent coach, the guy seems to have a knack for finding and developing talent. AFC South is pretty brutal conference and having to get over both the Steelers and Ravens both is a bigger task than most divisions in football. They won the division a couple of times going like 10-6 with the Ravens and Steelers going like 9-7... A couple of the playoff losses were totally fluky as they lost Palmer in the first series of the first playoff game and his knee was always a bit bonky after that play. His best team lost Dalton down the stretch run and had that insane loss to the Steelers with a backup QB a couple years ago.

earlnash, Tuesday, 1 January 2019 00:39 (seven years ago)

Yeah there’s definitely an element of luck to that, much as there was when McCarthy was like 0-6 in OT games (several of which were in the playoffs). He’s probably the best guy on the market, right?

frogbs, Tuesday, 1 January 2019 01:18 (seven years ago)

marvin lewis may have been as successful as was possible for a team controlled by mike brown, but what talent did he find or develop? not sure i'm willing to credit him with turning the undrafted burfict into a . . . notable player

the ravens and steelers were ~good~ during lewis' tenure, but neither was by any means the patriots, and god knows the browns were the browns

mookieproof, Tuesday, 1 January 2019 01:35 (seven years ago)

Steelers made the playoffs 10 times since 05, went to 3 Superbowls and won 2.
Ravens made the playoffs 9 times since '05 and won a Superbowl.

That's pretty good. Outside the Pats, I think the only division that has won 3 SB would be NFC East (Giants x2, Eagles last year)... NFC South has had Saints, Falcons and Panthers be in the playoffs with some regularity.

Bengals have had a good run of drafting on defense. Cincy was able to keep a good part of that core together for a while too. Some of these guys have had really long careers...

Geno Atkins
Carlos Dunlap
Domata Peko
Frostee Rucker
Rey Maualuga
Leon Hall
Jonathan Joseph

Lewis isn't quite Marty Schottenheimer, but he has had middling success.

earlnash, Tuesday, 1 January 2019 03:20 (seven years ago)

well, the steelers made the playoffs that many times because they went 26-8 against his bengals

anyway, worlds will collide when the steelers hire him to run their defense next year

mookieproof, Tuesday, 1 January 2019 03:38 (seven years ago)

what a good team name tho

bengals

mookieproof, Tuesday, 1 January 2019 03:39 (seven years ago)

only because you can easily change it to "Bungles"

frogbs, Tuesday, 1 January 2019 04:08 (seven years ago)

it's no 'pukers'

mookieproof, Tuesday, 1 January 2019 04:59 (seven years ago)

so you’re saying marvin lewis is the harold baines of NFL coaches

xxxp

k3vin k., Tuesday, 1 January 2019 06:34 (seven years ago)

Interesting stat: the six highest-paid QBs - Rodgers, Ryan, Cousins, Stafford, Garrappolo (lol), and Carr (double lol) - all missed the playoffs this year. Goff, Trubisky, Mahomes, Dak, Foles, and Lamar Jackson are all in. Maybe the "QB is everything" era is over.
