catching up here:

The Oakland Raiders acquired Antonio Brown from the Pittsburgh Steelers in the offseason and it appears that the wide receiver’s kids still need to get used to their dad’s new teammates.

In a teaser trailer for HBO’s “Hard Knocks,” one of Brown’s children asks: “Where’s Roethlisberger?”

Brown had to explain to them that Ben Roethlisberger plays for the Steelers and that he has a new quarterback: Derek Carr. Brown even went on to point out Carr on the field.

A few seconds into the season premiere of HBO’s “Hard Knocks,” Oakland Raiders coach Jon Gruden delivered exactly what everyone was looking for.

Gruden had the team gathered together, and he talked about how some players around him might have dreams of making the NFL, making the Pro Bowl or winning a Super Bowl. It’s a good thing there was a TV-MA tag for mature audiences before the show started.

“I’m really not into dreams anymore. I’m into fucking nightmares,” Gruden said. “You guys with me on that? You’ve got to end somebody’s dream. You’ve got to take their jobs. You’ve got to take their heart. Are you guys clear about this NFL shit now? We’re not trying to go to the Peach Bowl, we’re not trying to go to the Gator Bowl, or the Bluebonnet Bowl. We’re trying to go to the Super Bowl.”

Oakland Raiders star receiver Antonio Brown's mysterious foot injury is the result of extreme frostbite caused by a cryotherapy machine, a source confirmed to ESPN on Wednesday.

Brown was not wearing appropriate footwear when he entered the cryotherapy chamber last month in France and burned his feet, leaving them frostbitten, according to the source.

The cause of Brown's injury was first reported by ProFootballTalk.

Brown, 31, has missed a significant portion of his first training camp with the Raiders and has not practiced since July 30, when he left the team to visit a foot specialist.

Raiders coach Jon Gruden said Tuesday that Brown was "gathering information" on the injury but did not say when the seven-time Pro Bowler would return.

A source told ESPN's Adam Schefter this past weekend that the injury is not believed to be long term.

Brown posted photo on Instagram last week that showed the soles of his feet blistering and peeling.

I fucking hate all these headline clowns that Gruden is drafting, fkn Incognito and AB and even Ronald fkn Ollie ffs

It just feels like he’s loading up the clown car to drive away any remaining actual talent (like Carr)

Anyway it was a weird ep, feels very stunt-y and awkward
but i am going to watch the season regardless. I dont think they’ll get anything “inside” of any note or build much character but hey, when the wheels fall off it’s not like it’ll be unwatchable

but two things
1) maaaaan i could watch madden talk about 7 man sleds all day <3

2) abrams needs more steve smith in his life, gruden’s sideline “chat” with him was embarrassing

Can they bring Steve Smith Sr. on #HardKnocks for 1 episode to interact with Johnathan Abram? That would be must-see TV. pic.twitter.com/wkYCHFDkf8

THREAD: 1) Even before suffering bizarre injuries to his feet, Antonio Brown alarmed Raiders coaches and teammates by railing against the NFL’s enhanced enforcement of helmet regulations, a policy change which will likely force the star receiver to switch to a new model...

hbo hit the jackpot

Mordy, Friday, 9 August 2019 19:59 (six years ago)

why is it that the wideouts are always the most insane? is it because even the stars are only targeted on like 20% of offensive plays and they do a whole bunch of running for nothing?

mookieproof, Friday, 9 August 2019 20:23 (six years ago)

And now this: Raiders’ WR Antonio Brown has told team officials that, unless he gets to wear his old helmet, he will not play football again, per league sources.

And more....

An arbitrator ruled against Raiders’ WR Antonio Brown’s grievance to wear his old helmet, per source.

Now Brown must decide if he’s willing to play football with a new helmet he desperately does not want to wear.

does anyone have a helmet they want to give to ab

"I'm looking for a Schutt Air Advantage Adult Large Helmet that was manufactured in 2010 or after. In exchange I will trade a signed practice worn @Raiders helmet."

it’s seriously weird but great that AB is all Rain Man about his bloody helmet

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 14 August 2019 07:42 (six years ago)

https://www.yahoo.com/sports/antonio-brown-raiders-helmet-practice-mayock-221755897.html

It seemed like it was over. It seemed Antonio Brown was willing to move forward without his old Schutt AiR Advantage helmet after predictably losing his grievance against the NFL. It seemed Brown was ready to start the season after participating in pregame drills with the Oakland Raiders on Thursday.

But things are never over with Antonio Brown, apparently.

An exasperated Raiders general manager Mike Mayock announced to the media on Sunday that Brown was holding out of practice because of the helmet issue. Mayock did not seem happy about the situation.

Mayock’s full statement:

You all know that AB is not here today. So here’s the bottom line. He’s upset about the helmet issue. We have supported that. We appreciate that, OK? But at this point, we’ve pretty much exhausted all avenues of relief. So, from our perspective, it’s time for him to be all in or all out. OK? So we’re hoping he’s back soon. We’ve got 89 guys busting their tails. We are really excited about where this franchise is going. And we hope AB’s going to be a big part of it starting Week 1 against Denver. End of story, no questions.

And just like that, the Antonio Brown helmet story that has dominated the Raiders’ preseason has been given new life.

The Next Chapter: Antonio Brown and GM Mike Mayock got into it Wednesday, and the team is now planning to suspend its star wide receiver, league sources tell ESPN.

More on #Raiders WR Antonio Brown and Mike Mayock yesterday: It did not get physical, sources say. But after a screaming match, Brown told Mayock that he would hit him in the face and then punted the ball… and said, Fine me for that. 💸💸💸

By fining Brown, the Raiders voided the $29.125 million worth of guaranteed money in his deal, sources told Schefter.

not to defend AB but it seems odd that the raiders can just unilaterally do this. i guess 'guaranteed' means something different than i'd thought

mookieproof, Saturday, 7 September 2019 17:20 (six years ago)

the Raiders are either extremely stupid (well they are but specifically stupid here) or baiting AB into this reaction is exactly what they wanted to happen, so they could have a valid post-apology/post-Gruden "he'll play" excuse to release him.

ugh i bet. i currently have a slightly fractured shoulder and even that sucks, nothing to that degree though yipes

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 11 September 2019 05:28 (six years ago)

I have had 3 broken clavicles, a/c arthritis, multiple minor separarions, 7 mm clavicular resection, scapula fracture, screws and plate placed and later removed (clav). I feel entitled as fuck to say -

fractures aint shit, screws aint shit, bones just move around, dont get arthritis ever, and...

peeps with any soft tissue joint injury like the ones at issue, deserve sympathy because that shit hard to fix, if ever. sorry vg, and ulysses gws.

also, shoulders are are a shit design.

Hunt3r, Wednesday, 11 September 2019 20:48 (six years ago)

i agree wholeheartedly! i am excited to say that one week after surgery i have had about, let's say 14 hours of sleep total and can now move my elbow to almost a 90 degree angle from my hip for about two seconds. oxycontin is a shit drug!

One more on the #Raiders from Inside Training Camp on @nflnetwork: Jon Gruden's attempt to "crush" COVID-19 included assistant Rich Bisaccia tricking the players into thinking Gruden had coronavirus.
