One of the worst defensive brain farts you’ll ever see. What a football game/day.

Spottie, Monday, 15 January 2018 01:30 (eight years ago)

bless the vikings but for god's sake stop rushing four and letting drew brees pick you apart when all he needs is a field goal

mookieproof, Monday, 15 January 2018 01:35 (eight years ago)

I am still giggling so hard at the evasive kung fu move Williams pulled to blow the game

fuck you, your hat is horrible (Neanderthal), Monday, 15 January 2018 01:38 (eight years ago)

Vikes need to sign extend flacco for bigggggg bucks.

Hunt3r, Monday, 15 January 2018 02:00 (eight years ago)

welp finally got a couple good games

grats to the vikes for vanquishing the hated saints

call all destroyer, Monday, 15 January 2018 02:49 (eight years ago)

pretty sure case keenum is not 6'1"

mookieproof, Monday, 15 January 2018 03:18 (eight years ago)

so a team that has never won it all before is going to be champs this year...or the patriots. one of bortles, foles or keenum is going to be a super bowl winning qb...or tom brady.

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 15 January 2018 03:34 (eight years ago)

bortles already feels like a trivia question answer, and keenum is probably most likely to have some kind of career after this season. i think foles would be the absolute weirdest addition to the list.

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 15 January 2018 03:36 (eight years ago)

nfl cant be too happy abt this selection of teams

lag∞n, Monday, 15 January 2018 03:39 (eight years ago)

prepare to have keenum the underdog marketed hard if minny makes the b owl

lag∞n, Monday, 15 January 2018 03:40 (eight years ago)

I’m certainly no football expert but I have a tough time grasping the disconnect between the general perception of foles (as someone whose incompetence is somehow self-evident, even a joke) and his record as a generally solid quarterback and definitely above-average backup

k3vin k., Monday, 15 January 2018 03:42 (eight years ago)

It's kinda ridic tbh

fuck you, your hat is horrible (Neanderthal), Monday, 15 January 2018 03:47 (eight years ago)

am also interested in this question now

lag∞n, Monday, 15 January 2018 04:05 (eight years ago)

his one good year is viewed as a product of the period where chip kelly's offense took everyone by surprise and he hasn't really done anything since to suggest he can play

call all destroyer, Monday, 15 January 2018 04:10 (eight years ago)

so far this year he's at a crisp 5.3 yards/attempt which iirc puts him with the league's many checkdown artists

call all destroyer, Monday, 15 January 2018 04:11 (eight years ago)

above-average backup is exactly what he is, lot of worse guys but you don't really want him playing playoff games for you.

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 15 January 2018 04:20 (eight years ago)

nfl cant be too happy abt this selection of teams

i think you could say this if it were the world series or the stanley cup, but ppl are gonna watch or not watch either way. no one but you bastards wants to see the pats win again, but at least one team will have a shot at their first-ever owl, which is cool

mookieproof, Monday, 15 January 2018 04:22 (eight years ago)

xp and yeah, if you take away that season where kelly made everyone shit their briefs, he has 50-something% completion rating for under 6y/attempt and 1:1 tds/ints

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 15 January 2018 04:23 (eight years ago)

i mean yeah the nfl would probably not prefer a jags/vikes tilt for ratings purposes, but other than them who the f cares?

call all destroyer, Monday, 15 January 2018 04:24 (eight years ago)

i think they care they want to have marketable players and memorable games featuring popular teams, not three teams led by backup quality qbs and then the other one everyone hates

lag∞n, Monday, 15 January 2018 04:29 (eight years ago)

i mean the ratings are declining the nfl is no longer immune to the laws of nature

lag∞n, Monday, 15 January 2018 04:30 (eight years ago)

oh yeah sorry if i was unclear i know the nfl cares but ordinary ppl talking about what's best for ratings is always odd to me, market size usually doesn't play into my decision about what to watch

Keak da Sneaky Dianne (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Monday, 15 January 2018 04:45 (eight years ago)

The Titans are the first NFL team in 15 years to change head coaches after a season in which they won a playoff game.

mookieproof, Monday, 15 January 2018 22:08 (eight years ago)

man I couldn't even recall who the hell they beat but then I remembered lol Andy Reid

I'm naturally biased against the Vikings but last night was cool as hell - you could see the script forming, the Vikings lack of experience vs. the seasoned and well-traveled Saints, Drew Brees coming through again while the Vikings choke yet another playoff game that they easily should have won....and then everything flipping on one freak play
the fact that it happened at home made it even better, just an awesome moment all around

also love that Super Bowl 52 will be started by either Nick Foles or Case Keenum and potentially Blake Bortles as well

frogbs, Monday, 15 January 2018 22:39 (eight years ago)

I'd love to see the Jags knock off the Pats by just running it down their throat and have Bortles break out with some early 70s pass line only throwing the ball say a dozen times.

earlnash, Tuesday, 16 January 2018 23:29 (eight years ago)

Cutting the Pats time of possession down is about the best way to fight your real high powered pass offense. Jacksonville is going to need a bit of fortune and get a couple turn overs and not make mistakes.

Bortles foibles aside, the Jags and Vikings play a pretty old school type of football. It's not all that different than what Parcell's did when he was with the Giants right down to that big line man two TE setup that the Jags like to use. That is straight out of the ole' Giants playbook with Mark Bavaro and Zeke Mowatt. Gibbs in Washington liked to run that same setup with a single back. NE had a higher octane passing version of it playing on mis-matches with Gronk and Hernandez.

earlnash, Tuesday, 16 January 2018 23:33 (eight years ago)

I wonder what exactly were ownerships expectations for this year's Titans team? very strange

bhad and bhabie (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 17 January 2018 13:46 (eight years ago)

from what i read mularkey was asked to make changes to his staff, said no, and got canned.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 17 January 2018 13:59 (eight years ago)

they asked him to hire an oc instead of doing it himself and he refused. if they are smart they are wondering why derrick henry only became the feature guy after murray got hurt but most likely they are wondering why they didn't get more return on the big payout for murray, and they are looking at the rams and chiefs and thinking - rightly or wrongly, idk - that they ought to be achieving more with mariota. there really isn't much about their offensive personnel to get excited about tho.

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 17 January 2018 14:18 (eight years ago)

or i guess fire the guy they have as oc and find someone to really take over running the offense

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 17 January 2018 14:22 (eight years ago)

titans can't handle getting above .500; we demand mediocrity

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 17 January 2018 17:22 (eight years ago)

Interesting that bad thing's happen to star players right before playing the Patriots. Just like Mariotas family going undercover from what was thought to be a missle attack the day they play the Patriots. Stuff happens way too much when playing the Patriots.

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 17 January 2018 18:14 (eight years ago)

todd haley out. i think that was the right place to start for pburgh.

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 17 January 2018 18:14 (eight years ago)

name le'veon bell the oc so he'll feel valued

mookieproof, Wednesday, 17 January 2018 18:45 (eight years ago)

they were a top 10 offense and scored 42 in a playoff game, idk if Haley was the dude to blame

frogbs, Wednesday, 17 January 2018 18:57 (eight years ago)

eh they have a top tier qb and the best rb and wr in the league. that offense should be setting records, never mind top 10. there are other things too - a lot has been made of them having one of the lowest % of play action calls despite the threat of bell.

they have more fundamental problems but i certainly think letting haley walk was a good start. personally, i hate the way the roster is constructed with so much investment in a handful of stars. on the one hand you get an offense that can score those 42 points off of just a handful of big plays, but on the other hand you get a defense that is like heyward + tuitt + scrubs and it's a disaster. and that's even if the big names stay healthy.

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 17 January 2018 19:16 (eight years ago)

haley seems to have a shelf life as far as anyone wanting to be around him goes.
