one game is a big suspension imo

competitive shooter - - - - (Spottie), Monday, 4 December 2017 21:42 (eight years ago)

for him that's close to 500k

competitive shooter - - - - (Spottie), Monday, 4 December 2017 21:43 (eight years ago)

NHL suspensions are messed up because they vary by injury -- slash someone and break a bone, you get suspended; slash someone and give them a bruise, everyone laughs

but gronk actually concussed the dude

mookieproof, Monday, 4 December 2017 21:46 (eight years ago)

yea you'd think that would be worse than the Talib fight, Gronk completely blindsided the dude

frogbs, Monday, 4 December 2017 21:48 (eight years ago)

oh i didnt know he got a concussion. kick him out for the season them imo.

competitive shooter - - - - (Spottie), Monday, 4 December 2017 21:50 (eight years ago)

this is just a shitty move

omar little, Monday, 4 December 2017 21:50 (eight years ago)

leading with the elbow into the back of his head...damn. i mean white is very very lucky (and gronk is lucky to be very very white tbqf.)

omar little, Monday, 4 December 2017 21:51 (eight years ago)

i mean considering everything we know about this type of injury, what the actual fuck at 1 game, i can only imagine it's subconscious "great white hope funtimes 69 guy" BS that allowed that.

omar little, Monday, 4 December 2017 21:53 (eight years ago)

Yeah, he did some kind of WWE move, clocking him in the back of the head with his robo-brace. It's one of the worst hits I've seen.

Moodles, Monday, 4 December 2017 21:56 (eight years ago)

nice footwork tho

mookieproof, Monday, 4 December 2017 21:57 (eight years ago)

it does look very goonish

competitive shooter - - - - (Spottie), Monday, 4 December 2017 22:01 (eight years ago)

the leagues awful track record on these issues notwithstanding, i am fine with talib/crabtree getting more games than gronk.

k3vin k., Monday, 4 December 2017 22:18 (eight years ago)

tho i am also open to the idea that they all deserved more

k3vin k., Monday, 4 December 2017 22:20 (eight years ago)

gronk shdve gotten more than one game that was a very bad very late hit, amongst the worst in the modern safety conscious era

lag∞n, Monday, 4 December 2017 23:37 (eight years ago)

talib i guess got one game for each chain he snatched, crabtree got dinged cause people seem to generally dislike him

lag∞n, Monday, 4 December 2017 23:41 (eight years ago)

crabtree kind of strangled talib on the sideline and threw a punch that missed, so he did do something at least. i can understand him getting ejected, hard to untangle those on the spot, but he should never have been suspended. talib 2nd time chain snatching prob had to get a suspension. problem with suspension as a tool in the nfl of course is the difficulty of graduating its use, you only get 1/16th blocks. i don't think talib should've been suspended one eighth his whole season and i don't think gronk should've either.

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 5 December 2017 00:33 (eight years ago)

fuck gronk imo

fuck the bills, too, though bc they suck

horseshoe, Tuesday, 5 December 2017 00:36 (eight years ago)

sad times when even horseshoe is scorning the twin institutions of western ny state

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 5 December 2017 00:41 (eight years ago)

gronk was a hero to most but he never meant shit to me

hi Roberto Spiralli!

horseshoe, Tuesday, 5 December 2017 00:48 (eight years ago)

HI :D

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 5 December 2017 00:50 (eight years ago)

I still love the Bills, you understand; I just hate them

horseshoe, Tuesday, 5 December 2017 01:02 (eight years ago)

even tho the qb merry-go-round has been a shambles, i think they might at least have a good coach finally. and if white is still alive he looks really good.

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 5 December 2017 01:24 (eight years ago)

what happened to shazier? scared to check the footage. taken to hospital w back injury.

competitive shooter - - - - (Spottie), Tuesday, 5 December 2017 03:05 (eight years ago)

Steve young says he clearly couldn't move his lower body.

omar little, Tuesday, 5 December 2017 03:13 (eight years ago)

oh no

competitive shooter - - - - (Spottie), Tuesday, 5 December 2017 03:17 (eight years ago)

yeah it looked bad, play was stopped for quite a while

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 5 December 2017 03:41 (eight years ago)

#22 on that LeVeon Bell run, wtf was that

frogbs, Tuesday, 5 December 2017 04:08 (eight years ago)

what a shitshow

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 5 December 2017 04:30 (eight years ago)

man alive another massive helmet shot on brown there.

competitive shooter - - - - (Spottie), Tuesday, 5 December 2017 04:39 (eight years ago)

never a doubt that the Steelers would come back to win this

frogbs, Tuesday, 5 December 2017 04:53 (eight years ago)

anyway that was the kind of game that makes you want to quit watching football altogether

frogbs, Tuesday, 5 December 2017 13:19 (eight years ago)

sources indicate that eli is getting his job back

lag∞n, Tuesday, 5 December 2017 14:41 (eight years ago)

anyway that was the kind of game that makes you want to quit watching football altogether

I only caught the postgame show but Steve Young looked like he was going to throw up.

JOHN GRUDEN called the game "disgusting".

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Tuesday, 5 December 2017 20:13 (eight years ago)

if this had happened 10 years ago, the league would be selling fatheads of smith-schuster's hit

mookieproof, Tuesday, 5 December 2017 20:18 (eight years ago)

I posted this in the death spiral thread but it's kind of hypocritical for Gruden to say that given that he was complaining about penalty flags all game and revealed his man-crush for Burfict "despite all the fines"

frogbs, Tuesday, 5 December 2017 20:20 (eight years ago)

yeah they were in fact straight up blaming the players while simultaneously propagating the culture that makes the players think this shit is desirable

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 5 December 2017 23:03 (eight years ago)

Suzy Kolber was especially trashy in that segment. Charles Woodson and Young and Gruden all seemed pretty messed up and were clearly trying to figure out what to say, but Kolber kept steering it back to how hardcore and badass it was. It was hard to take.

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Tuesday, 5 December 2017 23:18 (eight years ago)

they all were feeling the tension of having to actually call the game and act like it's exciting/cool while acknowledging what had happened (except mcdonough, he dngaf and would have murdered the nfl all night i think)

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 6 December 2017 00:40 (eight years ago)

Startin to wonder what gets you ejected anymore. Even the Arena League used to toss people for far less

fuck you, your hat is horrible (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 6 December 2017 01:19 (eight years ago)

if this had happened 10 years ago, the league would be selling fatheads of smith-schuster's hit

― mookieproof, Tuesday, December 5, 2017 3:18 PM (five hours ago)

had this same thought

k3vin k., Wednesday, 6 December 2017 01:26 (eight years ago)

Don't worry, I'm sure the next Ravens and Steelers game will take it to a new low. That division is all about the he-man tough guy thing.

earlnash, Wednesday, 6 December 2017 05:40 (eight years ago)

that game was a good reminder that football isnt going to be around in 20 years. not in it's current form anyway.

shazier had 'spinal stabilization' surgery, whatever that is

I almost never talk about my work at Thr Players’ Tribune on twitter, because twitter is bad, but I’m breaking that rule to tell a quick story about Ryan Shazier ...
