Been on a road trip for work, so I stayed in and watched the Georgia and Alabama games. Both look good. Georgia's got a pretty impressive o-line as they often really pushed South Carolina around. Georgia did some pretty stupid penalties at times, but their defense has some good speed. LSU didn't have enough offense to really challenge Alabama, but their defense looks decent. SEC championship game is probably going to be one of the big ones as it will probably eliminate one or the other.

This Terrapin Golden Ale I got down here in the ATL is good stuff. Went and did two loads of laundry and this old dude was hustlin' to get his stuff done as he was telling this fine lady he had to get back to the house to watch the Dawgs. Listening to 107.9 - they got car insurance commercials here that sound like Outkast.
― earlnash, Sunday, 5 November 2017 03:21 (eight years ago)
This all led me to thinkin' I should get back and watch the Dawgs myself.
― earlnash, Sunday, 5 November 2017 03:22 (eight years ago)
Buckeyes pretty much said f-'it seasons over the past couple weeks.
― earlnash, Sunday, 12 November 2017 00:34 (eight years ago)
Dawgs got bit. Now someone has to take down the Tide.

Almost happened.

Watching Wisconsin and Michigan, don't think the Badgers have anywhere enough offense to hang with Georgia or Alabama.

espn dot com is currently referring to michigan-ohio state as The Game
is that really a thing? isn't it enough that it was played in The Big House?
― mookieproof, Saturday, 25 November 2017 21:37 (eight years ago)
Yeah, that OSU/Michigan game has been referred to that for a long time, even back to the Bo and Woody days.
― earlnash, Sunday, 26 November 2017 00:28 (eight years ago)
So it’s OK if Greg Schiano is the defensive coordinator for Ohio State but it’s not OK for him to be the head coach at Tennessee?

correct

― earlnash, Friday, 1 December 2017 01:14 (eight years ago)
jimbo, dabo, sabo, harbo, urbo. it is important to have a 'b' in there somwhere.
― crocus bulbotuber (Sufjan Grafton), Friday, 1 December 2017 01:17 (eight years ago)
This season aside, it seems like moving from the top tier of the ACC to the toilet of the SEC is a bad career plan. But Jimbo gonna Jimbo.

its surprising things soured so rapidly @ fsu, idk i wouldnt be too psyched if i repped a&m
― johnny crunch, Friday, 1 December 2017 03:40 (eight years ago)
UF and FSU programs are both rotten to the core. Jimbo may have amplified FSU's problems, where McElwain was too meek a man to confront them. I don't envy whoever takes over FSU, and I don't have much faith that Mullen can fix UF.
― Ⓓⓡ. (Johnny Fever), Friday, 1 December 2017 03:47 (eight years ago)
Its a pretty dirty sport on a good day.
Expectations are a bit unreasonable. I guess Texas A&M getting throttled by both LSU and Auburn both was the final straw.
That division is just tough to win. Arkansas is in same boat, Bielema got rolled there and he won a ton of games with the Badgers.
Tennessee's looking pretty desparate.

and... ucf squeaks it out!
Ohio State v Wisconsin is interesting to contemplate ahead of time, but it seems like either Wisconsin methodically imposes their will as they have on everyone else, or they get big-played into oblivion by the end of the third quarter. Neither outcome would be that interesting in reality.

That was a heck of a game. Even with OU's big lead at the half, I figured Georgia could get back into the game.
Mayfield definitely made some NFL passes in that game. I'd guess people might look at him hoping to be like Drew Brees or a bit less mobile Russell Wilson with his height. I'm not a QB guru, but his passing looked pretty balanced and not all over the place with his arm throwing the ball.
― earlnash, Tuesday, 2 January 2018 02:55 (eight years ago)
Yeah, I think Clemson is probably done now. I just don't think they are explosive enough like last year with Watson to come back with 2 TDs at this point. I'd think they would need a cheapy score on a turnover or return to get back into this one.
― earlnash, Tuesday, 2 January 2018 04:08 (eight years ago)

hmmm. 24-6. this is not one of those situations where the idea that 'there's still a lot of time left in the game' is especially reassuring for Clemson. with apologies to johnny fever, I'm well sick of SEC dominance and rabid SEC fans, so the thought of an all-SEC FBC championship game doesn't fill me with eager anticipation. I'll still root for Clemson until its all over.

qb battle for Bama in the spring should be an interesting one
tbh, every time Tua's gotten to play mop up in a game, he's looked great. I'd wondered if he'd ever see actual competitive game time this season. Now that he has, he feels like the qb I've been waiting for for a long time.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 9 January 2018 05:48 (eight years ago)
there's no way hurts can start next year. every time the bama offense had two straight punts everyone would be like TUUUUUAAAA. it wouldn't be sustainable.

EXCLUSIVE: Longtime Urban Meyer assistant Zach Smith's ex-wife, Courtney Smith, opens up about reported domestic violence and what she believes Meyer knew. pic.twitter.com/dNWA9x2F4y— Stadium (@WatchStadium) August 1, 2018
The ex-wife of former Ohio State assistant football coach Zach Smith, who was fired in July, says several people close to Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer, including his wife, knew of a 2015 allegation of domestic violence against Smith."All the [coaches'] wives knew," Courtney Smith told college football reporter Brett McMurphy in a story posted on his Facebook page. "They all did. Every single one."Smith told Stadium that she believes that Meyer also knew at the time."I do believe he knew and instead he chose to help the abuser and enable the abuser and believe whatever story Zach was telling everybody," Smith said.
