as someone pointed out on twitter, browns will be paying 3 head coaches next season. at least they are willing to throw some money at the problem. i thought pettine seemed okay but i guess he lost the players completely, if you can believe what you read.

that's how many head coaches the steelers have had in my lifetime

the browns are apparently interviewing doug marrone which would be the most hilarious hire ever after firing mike pettine

i think the browns are rotten from the top down and it might not matter who they hire as coach but i think they really just need to roll the dice on a high ceiling target. no more pat shurmur/rob chudzinski/mike pettine types

Sashi Brown will go from general counsel to executive vice president of football operations. The general manager will report to Brown, the coach to Haslam. The idea is for all to work together and collaborate on decisions, but Brown will have final authority over the 53-man roster and the draft, while the coach will decide how players are used on Sundays. That structure is similar to the one in which Farmer and Pettine worked.

the only thing more amazing than the idea of this management structure is the fact that they've already tried it.

Johnny Manziel's time with the Cleveland Browns will come to an end in March, according to a league source.

The Browns released a statement from new director of football operations Sashi Brown on Tuesday that expressed disappointment in Manziel but stopped short of saying the quarterback's run in Cleveland is over.

"We've been clear about expectations for our players on and off the field. Johnny's continual involvement in incidents that run counter to those expectations undermines the hard work of his teammates and the reputation of our organization," Brown said. "His status with our team will be addressed when permitted by league rules. We will have no further comment at this time."

The reference to league rules points to the fact that the Browns do not have the salary cap space to release Manziel on Feb. 8, the day after the Super Bowl and the first day they can do so. The move will take place when the new NFL year starts March 9, according to the source. Releasing Manziel in February would count $4.6 million against the cap, and due to the cap's machinations, the Browns do not have that space -- and will not have it in February. The cap will increase in March, which will allow them to release Manziel then.

Johnny Afluenza does have a bit of a ring to it.
