Second chances. Everyone deserves them.
Even Michael Vick.
Whoa, not so fast, you might say. He killed dogs for sport. He deserves to be banned from the game of football forever.
Hold on a second.
What kind of a society are we if we don't give everyone the chance to prove their mistake was just that?
A mistake.
And if we don't give Michael Vick a second chance, what are we really saying about him?
Darryl Strawberry had a second chance.
O.J. Simpson had a second chance.
Heck, Terrell Owens has had two, going on three second chances.
Doesn't Michael Vick deserve at least one?
Sure, you say. But the dog thing. What about that?
Well I say he's still a young man, one who has hopefully outgrown his wayward ways of youth. He needs our support, our care, and yes, our love. Because if we don't give him any of that, we might as well cast some stones at ourselves, because we've all been given second chances before, even if we don't know it. You want to be the one to say second chances aren't deserved?
That dog just don't hunt.

Owen's pretty much screwed up McNabb's and Romo's public "persona". If he could take out Manning, I think they could do case studies on him in B-schools around the world.

yeah just talkin about WRs; just findin reasons to hate on dallas (i really don't even hate them that much but the irony of this is that no team needs TO more than they do and if jerry jones really wanted to do something for them he would hire a coach whose balls had dropped)
― He grew in Pussyville. Population: him. (call all destroyer), Friday, 6 March 2009 03:42 (seventeen years ago)
i used to read the cowboys blog @ dallas morning news just for the lols and.. it's one of those situations where, standing outside, you just wonder how somebody doesn't tell jerry jones the completely obvious stuff about how screwed up the organization is.. but i wonder the same thing about dan snyder.
someone mercifully put on the caps/leafs @ the bar so i didn't have to watch epic 2nd half collapse. that fucking game, how did that happen? also the two biggest hipsters at my work -> browns fan, titans fan.

anything is more merciful than the '06 afc championship.
my story for that game is that my buddy had an uncle who won the lottery and bought this ridiculous house. the uncle went to that game so we got to go to the house and use the basement movie theater. we were pumped as hell; sitting in these theater seats, drinking beers, watching the game on a huge screen. everything felt so right and fell apart so fast. now i never want to go back to that goddamn house.

when that game actually happened, i turned off the tv for the final few minutes of the game, by then certain it wouldn't end well. i'm sure there is some anti-patriots conspiracy™ here that i should know about, maybe the refs making some bogus pass interference calls to help indy? not sure what is the appropriate conspiracy this time.
another obvious example here is the raiderswhat america needs in these troubled economic times is another career advice guide, one that basically explains to everyone in every profession: DO NOT PLAY FOR THE RAIDERS. i've tried to stage interventions before with ppl at my last job who all have stockholm syndrome or something, and maybe i should just keep it simple for them. this place is a trap. talent will wither and die here. you might think you are that one person who is going to get paid and come out of it OK and build a solid foundation for your career, but.. you won't because it's the RAIDERS.

WASHINGTON—Redskins coach Jim Zorn reportedly asked new defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth to begin bulking up Monday, claiming that by adding 2,400 pounds to his frame the All-Pro could improve his run-stuffing ability by single-handedly filling every gap on the defensive line. "Albert could be a dominant force if he just put on a couple thousand pounds," Zorn said of the two-time Pro Bowler, who signed a seven-year, $100 million contract with the team last week. "If he adds some mass to his shoulders, neck, and chest, and especially along his sides and the ends of his arms, there's not an offensive line in the league that will be able to move him, not even with help from a tight end." According to Redskins trainers, Haynesworth has been placed on a strict diet consisting of grilled chicken breasts, a green salad, and a giant barrel of lard at every meal.

It's the Bills, they have had a QB controversy since Jim Kelly retired, so T.O. should be perfect.
― earlnash, Sunday, 8 March 2009 04:25 (seventeen years ago)
idk if losman vs. edwards is much of a controversy
― wow heaven is cool (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 8 March 2009 05:26 (seventeen years ago)
if by QB controversy, u mean "all this qbs are useless." (except flutie <3)
and j0rdan's right, edwards, even with his lackluster end of season, is clearly better than losman.

You have to admit, outside the Bills moving to "x" storyline, the QB situation has been about the only story that gets a bunch of press for Buffalo.

nflpa reporting that ray lewis' new contract is actually a 7-year (!) deal, not 3 as previously reported
pats sign leigh bodden, in addition to previously signed shawn springs - i think u can already consider this an excellent offseason for them, cuz the secondary they were fielding last year was jawdroppingly bad
― boner state university (cankles), Tuesday, 10 March 2009 20:54 (seventeen years ago)
7 year contract must be one of those things where they'll just release him after 4 years or something cuz that is fucking insane
