"Cincinnati Bengals Placed franchise tag on kicker Shayne Graham."
That means TJ Houshmandzadeh is freed up to go to the Eagles, or at least that seems to be the team he has mentioned. I guess the Bears are also interested in him. I'm kind of sad to see him leaving Cincy.

Report: Texans, Vikings talk tradeESPN.com news services
The Texans and Vikings are close to a trade that would send quarterback Sage Rosenfels to Minnesota, possibly for a fourth-round draft pick, the Houston Chronicle reported Monday.
This is the second consecutive year in which the Vikings have been interested in acquiring Rosenfels, who is near the end of his contract, to be their starting quarterback.
Rosenfels wanted to be traded to the Vikings last season in hopes of starting for a team that has Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor at running back and has led the NFL in run defense for two straight years. At the time, the Vikings reportedly offered a third-round draft choice, but the Texans wanted a second-round pick. Both teams denied an offer was made.
Minnesota already has quarterbacks Gus Frerotte and Tarvaris Jackson on its roster and will want to extend Rosenfels' contract if the trade is completed.
The Texans had no comment Monday on the report.

― The Notorious B.Y.O.B. (M@tt He1ges0n), Monday, 23 February 2009 22:56 (seventeen years ago)
he's actually pretty decent. iirc he floated around the league as a backup who could turn star type of fad pickup but he never totally materialized but he played really well last year when schaub went out. maybe turns the ball over a bit (tries to do too much i guess) but all told he's probably a better option than gus or jackson

I would love to see the Vikings take a flier on Pat White at some point in the draft, or! (cough) Michael Vick.
― Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Tuesday, 24 February 2009 23:02 (seventeen years ago)
pat white's gonna be dope in the nfl, hopefully more randel-el (in terms of overall impact) than seneca wallace
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 24 February 2009 23:03 (seventeen years ago)
vick isn't going to play qb ever again is he? I could see somebody taking a shot on him as a 2nd string rb.
― Throwing Puffy under the gay bus, whatever that means (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 24 February 2009 23:11 (seventeen years ago)
there's a whole thread there, no doubt.
― Throwing Puffy under the gay bus, whatever that means (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 24 February 2009 23:12 (seventeen years ago)
i really don't think he can play RB - holds the ball like a loaf of bread, plays w/high pad level, doesn't understand how to protect himself like a running back should. he could be a return man tho
― s1ocki kong country (cankles), Tuesday, 24 February 2009 23:14 (seventeen years ago)
i could see him playing WR before running back... surely he's not nearly durable enough to play r&b. also he's great in open space but if he was a RB could he get into open space? i doubt it. it would be much easier for whoever (okay the raiders) to put him at WR and try and create spaces for him to operate in, kind of like hester before he became a full-fledged wr
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 24 February 2009 23:14 (seventeen years ago)
i stand by my assertion that michael vick will never have an r&b hit
annnnd marvin harrison's been released
it would be much easier for whoever (okay the raiders)
loll
― s1ocki kong country (cankles), Tuesday, 24 February 2009 23:31 (seventeen years ago)

xpost re vick: You think? I kinda figure the NFL would forgive anything with enough contrition.
― Throwing Puffy under the gay bus, whatever that means (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 25 February 2009 14:17 (seventeen years ago)
yes, i definitely think so. there's no amount of contrition that's gonna get middle-class whiteys with dogs to stop hating on michael vick and they're a pretty reasonable portion in some way or another of the nfl's revenue stream. i mean, shit, ppl are still bitching about vick and that happened forever ago! ppl would FLIP. OUT. if they reinstated him. dude is done, enjoy the arena leagues or whatever...
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Wednesday, 25 February 2009 16:41 (seventeen years ago)
vick will be reinstated and will play someone. i would bet quite a bit on it.
― He grew in Pussyville. Population: him. (call all destroyer), Wednesday, 25 February 2009 16:44 (seventeen years ago)
middle-class whiteys with dog (i am one, btw and seriously, fuck that guy) also like to have their bad guys to hate on; it adds spice to the meal and i think the nfl is savvy enough to roll with that.
I thoroughly expect him to donate a million dollars to the aspca, come back as a second stringer return/rb/wr/whatever, be roundly hated for the first year and then claw back into contention as backup qb for like, the raiders or something.
― Throwing Puffy under the gay bus, whatever that means (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 25 February 2009 17:06 (seventeen years ago)
The dude went to prison and served his time. Why not give the guy a second chance, especially if he dedicates himself to ASPCA stuff...
― Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Wednesday, 25 February 2009 17:36 (seventeen years ago)
I have a sweet pit and dude went to jail for abusing and murdering pits for pleasure (well, he really went in for gambling and transporting animals over state lines and some shit, but besides the point). If you had a retarded kid and he went to jail for beating up his retarded kid, I would understand if you had some issues giving him the benefit of the doubt.
Also "dedicates himself to ASPCA stuff" is all pretty speculative at the moment and am I still talking about Vick and pitbulls in '09? I should probably check myself here.
― Throwing Puffy under the gay bus, whatever that means (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 25 February 2009 17:42 (seventeen years ago)
I have a sweet pit
Don't get me wrong, I love pits a lot and lived with one for about five years. I think dog fighting is abhorrent. But I also believe that dudes who go to prison should be able to get jobs when they're released from prison.
― Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Wednesday, 25 February 2009 17:57 (seventeen years ago)
Absolutely! Don't mean I have to like the guy though.
― Throwing Puffy under the gay bus, whatever that means (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 25 February 2009 18:03 (seventeen years ago)
