stockpiling injury prone inside receivers in the hope that at least one of them is fit for any given game.
amendola will do well when he is on the field

chicago kevin wrote this on thread the rolling OFFSEASON MOVES thread on board I Love NFL on Mar 12, 2007
i don't know what his contract looks like but i'd wager he would. i think the depth chart will probably be something like:
wr 1- richochet caldwell/stallworthwr 2- caldwell/stallworth/gaffneywr3- caldwell/stallworth/gaffneywr4- troy brown/chad jackson/welkerwr5 -brown/jackson/welker/whatever other scrubs they sign.
brown's probably gone now thtat i look at it.

chicago kevin wrote this on thread the rolling OFFSEASON MOVES thread on board I Love NFL on Mar 13, 2007
with brown probably on his way out and kevin faulk entering the twilight of his career welker will probably be used primarily (if not solely) on special teams. i would be shocked if welker is anything more than a #3 receiver, i think he'll be situational at best.

underestimate "good guy" receivers with "intangibles" and "grittiness" and "a superior work ethic" at your own risk is the lesson here
― christmas candy bar (al leong), Thursday, 14 March 2013 00:11 (thirteen years ago)
it was so sweet for chad jackson, and donte stallworth, and chad johnson, and brandon tate, and joey galloway

i wanna go on record as saying that i was a fan of welker in his fins which is why i have ridden him to high regular season fantasy records and then fallen apart in the playoffs for many a year

NE did give up a 2nd rounder for Welker, who was coming off a 67-cath season, it's not like he was some nobody
― Panaïs Pnin (The Yellow Kid), Thursday, 14 March 2013 04:32 (thirteen years ago)
welker was a scrubs in an all-fitting uniform on his way outta the league until we picked him up outta the dirt, wiped the chocolate off his face, and taught him how to run a 3 yard crossing route. we made him like eddie murphy in trading places and he turned on us, like eddie murphy in trading places. why didn't we watch the film to the end?? and now he's gone. forever lost to us. and he will look so terrible in orange and blue.
just have to hold it together until simmons drags some fallacious but comforting bullshit out of his ass about how the pats will be much better without him because of something to do with la law.
― Roberto Spiralli, Thursday, 14 March 2013 09:31 (thirteen years ago)
Yet even after Welker received a two-year, $12 million offer from the Broncos on Wednesday, a call was made to the Patriots to see if the club would sweeten its offer. The Patriots did not have an immediate response, which led some in Welker's camp to believe a better offer was a possibility in part to keep him away from the Broncos, one of their top competitors in the AFC. Ultimately, the club informed Welker and his representatives that they had entered into another commitment, which Welker's camp assumed all along was Amendola.
So Welker called the Broncos -- who, according to a source, were initially concerned about insulting Welker with their offer because they already had made other financial commitments -- and told them he was on board.
