The news of Seau's death is really depressing. He was such a great player and it is such a sad way to go. Would not be at all surprising if head trauma played a role. Question is, is the NFL going to take notice?

“There’s two main components that a center needs to have, and it’s not quickness or agility or snapping or anything. It’s two things: One, he has to have a good height, and I’m talking about where his butt rests. It can’t be too low because I don’t wanna get deep in that stance and it can’t be too high so I feel like I’m standing up. It’s gotta be just right. He’s got that.”

On how he measures butt height:

“It’s a feel. My center in college was about my height and he’s real low in his stance. So it made me have to kinda duck down a little bit. It’s hard to get out of center. Scott Wells — my previous center — (and) Jeff Saturday: great height. Great butt height.”

The second component a center needs to have:

“And the second is most important, and that’s sweating. How much do they sweat? The worst thing that you can have is third, fourth quarter on a October day where it’s 65, 70 degrees and he’s sweating through his pants. Because that is not a situation you wanna be in.”

On how to prevent that:

(obv stadium politics and funding is pretty vile from an IRL perspective but i also must admit the fan in me is happy and relieved)

when i lived in mpls (which has admittedly been a while) there was an extra .75% sales tax in hennepin county to pay for the metrodome.

and yeah i don't want anyone's team to leave (well, not minnesota's -- i don't care what the jags do). but when there's no money for health care or whatever, the idea of a public-supported venue for billionaires to make money from eight times a year is some kind of bullshit. man, the nfl

yeah they make jobs arguments and the infamous Minneapolis "Cold Omaha" argument but there's really no rational defense of it..other than you really are such a football rube that it makes you kinda happy even if you hate it...which is where i fit in.

also, i suppose, the idea that these funds weren't going to go to anything worthwhile anyway
