Marion Barber, ex-football player

Kinda hoping Maroney retires with him and they can just spend their time fishing in Minnesota on a little boat together.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 23 March 2012 21:11 (fourteen years ago)

MB3 was such a punisher in Dallas...hope he doesn't wind up being the next Earl Campbell.

any major prude will tell you (WmC), Friday, 23 March 2012 21:16 (fourteen years ago)

xp oof I don't guess I realized that Maroney was out of the league entirely last season.

Barber was definitely a banger those first years in Dallas.

I don't quite see why Matt Forte is quite so lit up on signing Michael Bush, as really the guy is a backup (and a nice complementry backup at that) whose cost doesn't really effect Forte's contract.

I hate to say it Matt, no one pays the running back these days and while you are "good" you are not even really as good as Neal Anderson bro before he got banged up. Bears fans remember Walter and you are not that, so take that fat franchise 1 year deal and be happy, no one is going to sign you to a Chris Johnson deal (and that one was even stupid). You are a nice multi-purpose back but you are not Marshall Faulk or Roger Craig.

earlnash, Sunday, 25 March 2012 06:13 (fourteen years ago)

Fox is looking into getting Sean Payton to work on the TV telecasts (way to keep classy).

Payton talking to Parcells, rumors about him coaching (which I doubt happens).

earlnash, Tuesday, 27 March 2012 04:32 (fourteen years ago)

RIP Marion Barber one of the great...um...Minnesota pro football players of all time (lol)....

so crazy that the Minnesota Gophers are cursed/inept enough not to have done some serious damage in the NCAA when they had Marion Barber/Lawrence Maroney backfield smdh

No surprise here...the first game of the season will be Cowboys/Giants on NBC.

FUCKING NFC EAST ON NBC I HATE YOU

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 27 March 2012 21:42 (fourteen years ago)

well it was def the giants no matter what; rumor was the saints game was a candidate for it b4 bountygate

johnny crunch, Tuesday, 27 March 2012 21:45 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, I knew it would be the Gints, but was hoping for a cross-conference game at least.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 27 March 2012 21:47 (fourteen years ago)

seeing the cowboys lose in primetime is one of the great joys of the nfl, bring it on imo

bright lights, big fuckups

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 27 March 2012 21:52 (fourteen years ago)

yeah the Cowboys are kinda like Wile E. Coyote of football teams, you know they're gonna fuck up in the end but they always keep you guessing by finding creative ways to do it

Just thinking about three hours of Collinsworth talking about Tony Romo is giving me hives.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 27 March 2012 21:57 (fourteen years ago)

thinking of collinsworth's barely veiled disgust over boneheaded romo decisions is giving me a boner

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 March 2012 21:57 (fourteen years ago)

bonerheaded

I swear this comment has been made almost verbatim on this board before

last season -

Sanchize is part of the Romosphere of guaranteed lols
^^^^
jets/cowboys talk so much trash and find the most ridiculous ways to lose games esp the big ones

i'm excited about the opener - 2011 week 1 cowboys vs jets was incredible! how many terrible plays happened in this game? by the time the second half rolls around the highlights are all negative for both teams, basically, culminating with romo throwing it directly to Revis Island with under a minute left. despite being unable to complete a pass, jets kick a 50 yarder and win

4:10 "and here's where the cowboys start to unravel.."

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7749076/bill-parcells-says-hypocrite-ignore-new-orleans-saints

I guess a few million bucks for a few months of work seems like a pretty good gig to Parcells.

earlnash, Thursday, 29 March 2012 01:47 (fourteen years ago)

to me too

although i too feel hypocritical for not having applied for the job yet

mookieproof, Thursday, 29 March 2012 01:54 (fourteen years ago)

i'll do it!

i have experience calling plays for the washington histrionic peoples back in the jim zorn era

i know stuff didn't always work out too good but we just didn't have the personnel, also gregg williams wasn't there motivating the defense like before....

seriously, THIS GUY (daria-g), Thursday, 29 March 2012 03:32 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah but don't you like to run a 3-4? NO runs a 4-3, they might not want a coach that is going to change their program for a year.

earlnash, Thursday, 29 March 2012 20:54 (fourteen years ago)

plus you are a dude on the internet so

Panthers announced they traded RB Mike Goodson to the Raiders for G/T Bruce Campbell.

polyphonic, Friday, 30 March 2012 19:38 (fourteen years ago)

Did they also get his Television Productions or is that not included?

http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2012/4/1/2919223/saints-bounty-scandal-nflpa-criminal-charges

It's getting pretty deep on that Saint's BS. I tend to doubt that it is going to turn into some Marty McSorley situation, as that was obviously fxxxxd and he got arrested right after he clocked Donald Brashear. That said, I think the Saints are going to have quite a few watching some weeks at the start of the season.

You will need a shovel to get around all the lawsuits that are going to fly out of this thing. The thing I keep waiting for is for Payton to maybe sue the NFL over his suspension and loss of pay, which would be pretty interesting, but probably would get him banned out of football by proxy if he went that way.

earlnash, Monday, 2 April 2012 22:32 (fourteen years ago)

i'm hearing people call for their SB rings, which is insane. if you credit the bounty system for their Super Bowl victory....

Estimate the percent chance that a whale has ever been to the moon? (frogbs), Tuesday, 3 April 2012 13:59 (fourteen years ago)

i think it would be pretty hard for the saints to be held liable unless someone could definitively prove that they were injured in a game vs the saints by an illegal hit?

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 3 April 2012 14:02 (fourteen years ago)

I credit their SB victory to an onsides kick and a critical pick six.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 3 April 2012 16:25 (fourteen years ago)

Most of these Nike unis aren't noticeably different than previous iterations, but a couple thoughts:

Seattle's update makes them look like a UFL team.
I do not support Denver going back to orange jerseys.
No more stripes on San Francisco's socks...yay!

also, apparently morris claiborne is stupid

how, exactly, do potential draftees' wonderlic scores become public knowledge?

mookieproof, Wednesday, 4 April 2012 00:07 (fourteen years ago)

idk but a lot of the time it seems like the 'public knowledge #' is wrong

iatee, Wednesday, 4 April 2012 00:09 (fourteen years ago)

if he's as good as they say, he won't have to figure out anything much more complicated than single coverage. leaking it (or pretending to) seems more like an exercise in 'look at the dumb black buck'.

just underlines (again) how little the league cares about the meat it runs through its grinder.

I get what he's saying ("If I didn't try convincing myself I'm the best, then why bother playing?") is some kind of self-motivational tool, but keep that shit under your hat, Joe. The press is always waiting to eat you alive.

remember the last time all you guys laughed at a dude claiming to an ELIte QB?

Estimate the percent chance that a whale has ever been to the moon? (frogbs), Wednesday, 4 April 2012 16:49 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, I guess the Ravens will win the SB this year.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 4 April 2012 16:58 (fourteen years ago)

The Ravens probably will think so until the refs take it from them, as that is really the only reason they 'lose'.
