Twitter dudes speculating that he would've played if Gronk couldn't go, and that he probably already knew this was gonna happen.

i got off a plane in boston two days ago and the first thing i saw on the drive from the airport was a dude roasting a life size model of a giants player on a spit

that is the one contribution i will make to this thread

xps to poly: i hope that's the case. he is reacting v well about it at any rate
https://twitter.com/#!/TiUnderwood/status/165957643259748354

the thing is, supposedly he is/was really highly rated by NE. i wonder if they will bring him back, which would kind of make this even worse somehow?

i remember when the pats played the bears in the 86 superbowl people were buying bear meat and eating it this was a thing that was happening, much discussed around the schoolyard

My mom fed us bear meat the whole two weeks leading up to the super bowl

not that i have been obsessively ruminating and consoling myself about this all day, but i have determined that this was actually the least disappointing playoff exit of the last 10 years:

06/07 colts (just the way that game played out, losing the big lead)
07/08 giants (...)
05/06 denver (should and would have won 3 in a row with superior colts losing to pburgh. wtf this game)
10/11 jets (terrible, dumb game)
09/10 ravens (these last two only ones where the other team was actually legit better; 1st quarter tho...damn)
11/12 giants (played well, other team played better *shrug*)

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 6 February 2012 23:26 (twelve years ago) link

yeah I can imagine the Colt game was a backbreaker

Bo Jackson Overdrive, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 00:26 (twelve years ago) link

colt game, just brutal. after they somehow pulled out a win vs the super chargers who were really good that season, and ran up what, a 21 point lead? 19?

yeah, def keeping a watch out. 3y at around 10m i bet. i think he has a chance to perform at least as well as c benson did the last couple years. he may not have as much talent but his attitude is approx 1000000 times better.

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 21 March 2012 20:04 (twelve years ago) link

No more Law Firm. Bummer. He was one of my favorites over the past couple seasons. Thought he had great potential, but needed to be played on more snaps.

Interesting that they brought back Stallworth. He didn't make a huge impression on me last time around, maybe overshadowed by Moss.

Upon agreeing to a five-year contract extension on Monday, Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez made a charitable gesture that owner Robert Kraft acknowledged in remarks Monday evening at the team's annual charitable foundation gala.

"One of the touching moments since I've owned the team -- knowing that this is our charitable gala tonight -- Aaron came into my office, a little teary-eyed, and presented me with a check for $50,000 to go to the Myra Kraft Giving Back Fund," Kraft said. "I said 'Aaron, you don't have to do this, you've already got your contract.' And he said 'No, it makes me feel good and I want to do it.'
