Think he's QB'ing the Omaha Nighthawks, if memory serves
Garcia is the anti-Favre. He'll play until he dies, but there won't be any drama and he'll know his limitations as he gets older.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 27 September 2010 17:23 (fifteen years ago)
otm
Pretty sure he wears Levis too imo
― VegemiteGrrrl, Monday, 27 September 2010 17:28 (fifteen years ago)
ITT we compare Jeff Garcia's season with the Omaha Nighthawks to Brett Favre's season with the Minnesota Vikings

Singletary is the worst
Free Jimmy Raye
The bills are such a freaking mess. There needs to be one of those "starting QBs since Jim Kelly" graphics
Btw i bet andrew luck looks at the NFL standings, sees the bills as the worst team in the whole league, looks out his window in Palo Alto and goes "ehhhhh I think ill kick it here for one more year"
Ryan Mallet otoh....

fuck trent edwards
― horseshoe, Monday, 27 September 2010 19:00 (fifteen years ago)
one of the most damning things i can think of to say about trent edwards is that ryan fitzpatrick is measurably more effective than he was.
― horseshoe, Monday, 27 September 2010 19:01 (fifteen years ago)

some bad karma for the way we treated Flutie accounts for some of this, i believe
― horseshoe, Monday, 27 September 2010 19:02 (fifteen years ago)
ry-fitz looked pretty competent on sunday and made some very good throws, but it remains to be seen how well he will perform against an NFL secondary.
― Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 27 September 2010 19:03 (fifteen years ago)
i wish i could be hopeful about drafting a new QB like Luck, but i just feel in my bones we're going to fuck it up. also we need a better offensive line.
― horseshoe, Monday, 27 September 2010 19:03 (fifteen years ago)
and a better everything.

So Charlie Weis had an inflamed/infected gall bladder as early as Friday, but worked through the pain, KC whupped SF, and he went in and had the offending organ yanked out today.
― If you want me to "get there," pay attention to my angina (WmC), Monday, 27 September 2010 23:29 (fifteen years ago)
old school. Gall bladder pain is no joke. Hats off to Charlie.
― VegemiteGrrrl, Monday, 27 September 2010 23:31 (fifteen years ago)
Yeah, if my wife's gallbladder pain-fiesta in '88 is anything to go by, this is superhuman.
― If you want me to "get there," pay attention to my angina (WmC), Monday, 27 September 2010 23:34 (fifteen years ago)
The surgeon told me that women who'd been through childbirth say that gallbladder pain is worse. I can't speak to that, all I know is it hurt like holy fiery hell.
― VegemiteGrrrl, Monday, 27 September 2010 23:38 (fifteen years ago)
My wife gave birth, and then had the gallbladder blow up six weeks later, and confirms that.

*shudder*
― VegemiteGrrrl, Monday, 27 September 2010 23:55 (fifteen years ago)
George Blanda is one of those bad asses that played so long, you can pretty much do a 6 degrees of separation to freaking anyone in the history of the NFL. The bro played with Sid Luckman and Snake Stabler, that's nuts.

"Robbie Gould, very accurate kicker."
....
"Missed it from 49!"
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 28 September 2010 00:51 (fifteen years ago)
Don't these guys know that citing stats and shit AUTOMATICALLY means something contrary is going to happen?
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 28 September 2010 00:52 (fifteen years ago)
That said, Bears first drive was good.
Gould is pretty much perfect under 40, but the dude doesn't have a rocket launcher leg.
― earlnash, Tuesday, 28 September 2010 00:53 (fifteen years ago)
There's gonna be a line of kickers behind the woodshed in Week 4
― VegemiteGrrrl, Tuesday, 28 September 2010 00:53 (fifteen years ago)
49 is a pretty long kick, I'd say Gould is probably at best 50/50 on a shot that long.
― earlnash, Tuesday, 28 September 2010 00:55 (fifteen years ago)
classic gruden: rodgers is one of the best redzone QBs i've ever seen
― shartopus (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 28 September 2010 00:57 (fifteen years ago)
someone should keep track of these things
Chad Clifton has been around for a good long while. Remember when Warren Sapp was on the Bucs (maybe their Superbowl season or year before) and put Clifton in the hospital blindsiding him on a Favre interception. Those Bucs teams would bust your ass if you were left open for a shot, especially Lynch.

Laser guided missile
Mason Crosby (1975) - one time one shot LP team up of Dave Mason (Traffic) and David Crosbie (Byrds, CSNY) which is a slow largely forgettable collection of druggy harmony and boogie, but rarely at the same time.
