j/k i don't really care!

into the young coconuts (gbx), Friday, 8 January 2010 21:26 (sixteen years ago)

Meh. I'm not anti-Farve. I'm pro-Green Bay.

I remember a time when magazines like Sports Illustrated ran stories predicting that Green Bay is such an uninviting place that it would never again build a powerful team. I like how the Packers proved those stories wrong: They won the Super Bowl, stayed good for a while, and now they're good again! Anyway, I hope they win this week, but I won't be sad if the Vikings win.

Still hoping he gets injured and Tavaris leads them to the promised land.

i hate to be a dick, but i still got favre jets hangover and i don't want green bay OR the vikes to make it to the superbowl

lazy cold meat and chocolate seasonal mentality (forksclovetofu), Friday, 8 January 2010 22:32 (sixteen years ago)

I would be fine with the Vikings going to the Super Bowl if and only if Roger Goodell suspends both Favre and Jared Allen after an Arenas-Crittendon standoff, although I guess given Allen it would have to be with like, crossbows or spears instead of guns.

C-L, Friday, 8 January 2010 22:49 (sixteen years ago)

If it happened, it would be Brett Favre and Jared Allen getting in a deathmatch on the proper technique for catfish noodling.

two weeks pass...

After Sunday's game, Favre staggered to the podium, an abrasion between his eyes, welts on his forehead and tears in his eyes from the beating he took at the hands of the Saints...

they really were welts

"Nobody wants to take a year off," he said. "It's something I did and it happens with a lot of players, like Wes [Welker] [knee injury] -- he has a tough road and he'll overcome it. I have no doubt he will. Everybody deals with it at different times, unless you're Brett Favre."

three months pass...

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre told the Southern Miss Golden Eagles baseball team on Thursday morning that if they can make it back to the College World Series for the second straight year, he will return for one more season in the NFL.

brett favre told me if i eat one more egg mcmuffin, he's gonna wina superbowl ring
i am doing this for brett

forksclovetofu, Thursday, 20 May 2010 23:47 (sixteen years ago)

I don't think the Favre mania is quite as much this year. The dude just had some ankle surgery, it would be funny for him to go through all of that and then say 'nah I don't really want to play this year'.

When he finally does retire, he probably will come back a year later at like age 52.

earlnash, Saturday, 22 May 2010 05:30 (sixteen years ago)

honestly, nothing is ever gonna be as awesome as that last playoff game; dude should stop while he's behind

forksclovetofu, Saturday, 22 May 2010 05:36 (sixteen years ago)

one month passes...

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5324899

"Favre has not yet said if he plans to play, but he's not sounding like a retired quarterback. Favre told the Sun Herald on Thursday on the Mississippi newspaper's website he would "love to go beat the Saints" in the season opener Sept. 9. New Orleans beat Minnesota in the NFC Championship Game in January."

so he's considering playing or retiring? i hope the media keeps a sharp eye on this.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 14:56 (fifteen years ago)

(Also, thanks Brett for waiting until after the draft and after all the good free agents/trade options are gone to make up your mind, a**hole.)

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST

Brett Favre told ESPN's Ed Werder in Hattiesburg, Miss., on Wednesday that he has not made any decision about returning to play for the Minnesota Vikings this season and says he will play if healthy.

i sort of think he should be thrown in jail for this shit

horseshoe, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 16:52 (fifteen years ago)

not sure i'm totally ready to fault him for this one--the "facts" of yesterday's report are like ultra-sketchy

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 16:54 (fifteen years ago)

i'm willing to throw away the constitution on brett favre and proclaim him guilty until proven innocent

('_') (omar little), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 17:24 (fifteen years ago)

srsly. also, no statute of limitations on the inability to get over yourself

horseshoe, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 17:25 (fifteen years ago)

i'm hoping he returns because last season was too high a note to end on.

('_') (omar little), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 17:28 (fifteen years ago)

yeah, although it did all crumble beautifully at the end

horseshoe, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 17:29 (fifteen years ago)

i mean maybe he texted anonymous teammates and said "hey i'm retiring" but didn't tell that to ryan longwell on the same day and is now denying it to ed werder but that doesn't really pass the occam's razor test imo.

can we change thread title to "brett favre is taking pics"

righteous lecoq (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 5 August 2010 06:02 (fifteen years ago)

i really hope brett doesn't retire -- two reasons

1 the league is more fun with him in it -- the vikings are a cool team, don't want to see them saddled with fucking sage rosenfels, their games vs green bay are inherently mega epic if favre is playing and of course nothing in the world is funnier than favreceptions -- i wouldn't trade anything in the world for favre's interception against the saints last year

2 it's hilarious to see espn falling all over itself in an effort to be ahead of the favre retirement story. they had people eulogizing his career within the second... it's like they put out a bat signal over bristol and all ex-players assembled in the studio to lick his nutsack. you would think that at this point they would play it cool with this kinda thing, but no, and it never gets old

righteous lecoq (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 5 August 2010 06:05 (fifteen years ago)

brett: in it for the lulz

I've come to consider him a reality tv star more than an athlete, and it actually makes me sorta like him?

iatee, Thursday, 5 August 2010 14:06 (fifteen years ago)

idk i think he's pretty pathetic and unlikeable

righteous lecoq (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 5 August 2010 14:09 (fifteen years ago)

i think hes pathetic and sorta likeable. i really dont get the indignant part of the outrage, unless you are his employer or a fan under 13 years of age.
