this is a fucking bad ass draft tho
2009 1 19(19) Eagles Jeremy Maclin WR MissouriPick Note from Tampa Bay through Cleveland2009 2 21(53) Eagles LeSean McCoy RB Pittsburgh2009 5 17(153) Eagles Cornelius Ingram TE FloridaPick Note from N.Y. Jets2009 5 21(157) Eagles Victor Harris CB Virginia Tech
looking at kolb tho, i would say he already is or has a chance to be better than all of these 06-08 1st-3rd round qb draftees:
vince young, leinart, kellen clemens, tarvaris jackson, jamarcus russell, brady quinn, john beck, drew stanton, trent edwards, brian brohm, chad henne, kevin o connell

sorry for (eagles) blogging btw
if you didn't get flacco or matt ryan, your QB draftee is shaky at best (henne good value & maybe edwards - kolb might be better considering draft value versus VY & certainly leinart [i guess?])

if you can't tell i'm majorly procrastinating on schoolwork by dissecting the eagles draft picks & their potential 2011 starting line up

tho mccoy hasnt been very good this year i'm not really too high on him in general, but he can probably be a weapon for the eagles if they use him right
for some reason i thought kolb was unusually old but i guess i was thinkin of that mormon nigga john beck
kolb's kinda the wild card, he's definitely looked good in limited action but it's tough to evaluate him based on a couple of spot starts
the eagles o-line is a goddamn mess but there IS a ton of young talent w/upside there... in a year or two that could be a kickass unit, or could continue to be a goddamn mess
it's hard to make a great argument for a lot of other teams though - the cowboys have a ton of young skill position talent, but the o-line's on the old side and romo's almost 30 and has shown remarkably little improvement in his critical problem areas (sloppy footwork etc); packers have a great combo with rodgers & jennings but are really thin on the o-line and at running back; as far as long term building block guys the falcons really have ryan and roddy (and roddy white's older than you'd think) and then some somewhat unknown quantities in turner and norwood (persistent injury probs w/jerious, turner had been suckin ass for most of the season until the past few weeks and then blammo high ankle sprain - he's signed w/the team for a while but i have no idea what kind of player he's going to be for the next few years); the giants have a ballin' young receiving corps and are solid on the o-line, but the backs have been unexceptional this year and eli's another guy who's closing in on 30; the ravens are looking really good at o-line, rb and qb, but once todd heap and derrick mason crumble into dust ray rice will be their only weapon in the passing game

romo is kinda like a kurt warner type without the gameface and without red zone playoff skills.

like, my dream is for the dolphins to run 8-10 wildcat plays + 10-12 plays of pat white out of the pistol
i hope you're right because i love watching that team play

yeah, tomorrow night's game is either gonna be a new offensive frontier or lots or henne throwing lots of 8 yd curl routes
― chillwave dudes get washed out, totally (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 19 November 2009 02:36 (fourteen years ago) link
Henne is good enough to get the team leading, but tricky offensive schemes will be required to keep that lead.

The Bears are old school cheap and don't really fire coaches with contract money still on the table. I don't think Lovie Smith is going anywhere as I cannot see the McCaskey's having to pay for two contract years.
― earlnash, Thursday, 19 November 2009 03:29 (fourteen years ago) link
C'mon they gave an extra season to guys like Jauron and Wannstedt and they didn't even get to a Superbowl, I'll be really surprised if Lovie Smith goes anywhere. Ron Turner on the other hand...I could maybe see that changing.

I picked SF, too, but it might be because I am hoping this will be their breakout game where everything finally comes together.. hah. Probably GB is a better bet, esp at home.
― Buck Utah (rockapads), Thursday, 19 November 2009 19:04 (fourteen years ago) link
I think SF's defense is going to rape Aaron Rodgers, basically.
― windy = white, carl = black (polyphonic), Thursday, 19 November 2009 20:11 (fourteen years ago) link
their defense is aight, tennessee shredded them a few weeks ago. i think there is much better chance that the green bay D picks alex smith off 3 times.
― chillwave dudes get washed out, totally (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 19 November 2009 20:15 (fourteen years ago) link
I don't see why GB would be a sure thing pick at all. GB is 5-4 and SF is 4-5, but there are times this season when GB has looked absolutely terrible, including just two weeks ago at Tampa Bay, who got their first win of the season against them. True, GB is at home for this game, but Lambeau isn't the fortress it used to be and SF has arguably played better on the road.

After reading Gladwell's thing tho, and seeing Westbrook suffer 2 concussions in 4 weeks, I'm kinda suffering a crisis of consciousness about the whole loving my football players thing.

Detainees at Camp in Iraq Use Favre To Tease Wisconsin SoldiersBy Jay Sorgi
BAGHDAD - It seems that the Brett Favre-Green Bay Packers saga is such a worldwide phenomenon that it's being used by detainees in American military camps.According to a military official, detainees at a Wisconsin National Guard camp in Iraq are using Brett Favre as a manner of getting at the guard troops there.
"They know Favre by name," said First Lieutenant Tim Boehnen, who is from New Richmond, Wis.
"One of the big words they know now is shenanigan. They'll constantly talk about 'Favre shenanigans,' 'He's so good for the Vikings,' and 'The Packers have got to really feel bad about that one.' "
According to Boehnen, it started when troops there started decorating their camp in Packers colors.
"We try to allow our troops to have as much fun in the compound as they can while still maintaining our professional manner," explained Boehnen.
"We spend a lot of time painting and making our compound our own and representing us. Obviously, wherever Wisconsinites go, we bring the Packers with us."
Once the decoration job happened, detainees became curious.
"They obviously then started up the conversations, and started talking about Brett Favre. They soon learned about Favre going to the Vikings, and things just started going downhill from there."

don't beat yrself up Mordy. Keep in mind most of the real bad brain stuff is happening to anonymous linemen who experience acceleration-deceleration brain trauma on every snap.
The gloryboy skill position players get all the headlines but mostly they just can't walk or put on socks after 40 and we already knew that.

best defense in the league accordnig to dvoa (niners have second best, which surprised me), ranked ninth in total team DVOA (to the niners' 20th)
