"We worked on some things," Hibbert said. "We’re trying to stop it at the point of the ball screen so I don’t have to be tested at the rim like four or five times in a row. We’re working on ball screen defense and the guard-guard pick-and-roll.

Timmy D and his wife are apparently going through a divorce atm :(

Yeah, that's what I was talking about w/ that screen-handoff stuff they do on the side. What's weird is that most teams make that attack from the middle, where you hypothetically have more even spacing. But, when you have Wade or LeBron getting to the outside (rather than Game 1 when the Pacers' defenders were giving them that outside lane next to the out-of-bounds line) with even a tiny bit of space, they just start barreling in. At that point Hibbert comes to help and the rest of the Pacers run around trying to guess passing lanes. Bron/Wade are such good at-the-rim passers that they can commit to the jump and still wait that extra second for Battier/Birdman/whoever to slide toward the rim for the dumpoff->dunk.

BTW

everyone should go download/stream the simmons podcast with windhorst from yesterday

J0rdan S., Friday, 24 May 2013 21:52 (ten years ago) link

i think windhorst is the most plugged in dude in the league after woj... really fascinating stuff throughout

J0rdan S., Friday, 24 May 2013 21:52 (ten years ago) link

they were talking about the harden trade and windhorst said two interesting things

- every league exec he talked to in the days after the trade thought the thunder were completely insane

- after the first few practices with jeremy lamb, everyone in OKC was panicking because it was clear that he "couldn't compete"

J0rdan S., Friday, 24 May 2013 21:54 (ten years ago) link

dang

lag∞n, Saturday, 25 May 2013 00:19 (ten years ago) link

more recap plz

lag∞n, Saturday, 25 May 2013 00:19 (ten years ago) link

I think he also mentioned how the OKC management felt like they're always ahead of the curve w/r/t orgbuilding and, in the Harden case, they were dealing w/ inevitabilities that other teams just flat-out refuse to face yet.

Yeah, Windhorst / Lowe NBA podcast combo is a good one.

ヽ(´ー`)┌ (CompuPost), Saturday, 25 May 2013 00:29 (ten years ago) link

youd think if all the other teams thought they were insane then okc couldve found a better deal

lag∞n, Saturday, 25 May 2013 00:41 (ten years ago) link

nah they were probably all like shhh

Outrageous even for Sager.

Tom Haberstroh ‏@tomhaberstroh 26s
That moment when you remember that Joel Anthony learned how to play basketball by reading a book from the library.

haha what

Paul Flannery ‏@Pflanns 21s
36 free throws this quarter. Scott Foster and Bill Kennedy were dominant

lag∞n, Saturday, 25 May 2013 01:50 (ten years ago) link

Should be noted that Sam Young got a T for looking at LeBron, literally.

ヽ(´ー`)┌ (CompuPost), Saturday, 25 May 2013 02:05 (ten years ago) link

Anthony was at the Big & Tall clothing store -- an unofficial hotbed for scouts searching for the next basketball prospect -- because, at 6-6, he had outgrown his clothes.

hah
