I mean you're right, and it is very noticeable and very annoying to watch bad reffing, but bar a few bad apples *cough joey crawford cough* I feel like those men and women are really trying to do the best they can at a nearly impossible task that must be done, total chaos would ensue w/o their efforts. The other thing which shall not be named is the opposite, people are going out of their way to abuse the system, to undermine the rules.

the charge/block rule is fine, refs just started calling too many of them charges for some reason

charge call when ballhandler has already passed is lame. but people love to complain, let's not pretend there's a finite amount of complaining energy out there. flopping as obv struck a nerve amongst many people and either pointing to other more "important" things or saying it doesn't really bother you, yeah ok your position is noted doesn't mean the rest of us have to think same way.

The rule I would like to see changed is where a defender jumps straight up to block a shot, the shooter sees the guy off his feet and jumps into him, and somehow that's a foul on the defender.

they called that pretty evenly in the heat/pacers series. So rare that the person defending ACTUALLY stays vertical, though. They usually always bend the arms down. Takes a lot of self control really.

they actually did change that rule a few years back (or at least added wording to make it explicitly an offensive foul or a non-call), it just isn't called correctly nearly often enough.
