their arena has seats that are actually comfortable though

this is the second most important thing after having a watchable team
def the worst part of the entire thing is all the gray why is everything gray
― Clay, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:21 (one year ago) link
the color scheme is lame theres too many repeat color schemes in the NBA let the spurs have the monochrome and do something else

I called 3:45 PM today for Fizdale’s firing in typical Knicks Friday news dump fashion. Was just slightly off.— Robin Lundberg (@robinlundberg) December 6, 2019

they should rename to the giants to increase the cross-sport confusion on that name
― ciderpress, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:33 (one year ago) link
is the trae young + dejounte murray combo doing anything for us? i can’t get a handle on it
― J0rdan S., Monday, 27 June 2022 19:34 (one year ago) link
that doesnt make sense at all to me but whatever they want
― ciderpress, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:35 (one year ago) link
i think a trae, murray, hunter, okongwu and capela starting 5 could be good defensively
― Heez, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:36 (one year ago) link
plus great on offense
― Heez, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:37 (one year ago) link
i think the idea of a strong defensive guard next to trae makes all the sense in the world but i wouldn't pay a premium for murray who will lose a lot of his value playing off trae
― call all destroyer, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:37 (one year ago) link
didn't he average like 8 rebounds a game? can't see that dropping off
― Heez, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:38 (one year ago) link
i feel like it makes sense in theory, ok second ball handler, better defensive guard. this all makes sense. but then i’m like, are they really getting that much better? they still have zero wing players outside of hunter who may not be much himself
― J0rdan S., Monday, 27 June 2022 19:39 (one year ago) link
xp the 9 assists a game will tho
― call all destroyer, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:39 (one year ago) link
yeah true, but it also solves the back up PG role which has been dire
― Heez, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:40 (one year ago) link
the hawks desperately needed someone besides trae who can make a play and now they have that and dejounte is big enough to play the 2 and is a good defender, whether trae can break a lot of his bad habits around being a guy who just always has the ball and does nothing else will prob determine whether it works as well as possible

haa sry
― lag∞n, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:42 (one year ago) link
dejounte shooting 33% on threes would have me worried about playing him off trae but i guess you just hope he does a lot of secondary playmaking
― call all destroyer, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:43 (one year ago) link
trying to think of any other way the hawks improve their roster this year honestly unless durant wants to come
― Heez, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:48 (one year ago) link
would trae be willing to play off ball?
― Spottie, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:48 (one year ago) link
he would need to learn how lol. i get frustrated watch steph move off the ball bc trae tends to just stand there
― Heez, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:49 (one year ago) link
none of the steph disciples actually want to play like him
― Spottie, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:55 (one year ago) link
shoot from half court check, move off ball ehh, play defense bro what

reading the james jones / suns piece and it really seems like they are just overthinking things, trying to be cute with it.
like... who cares about these weird semantic points?
In Phoenix, the word "potential" is strictly verboten. "We're not allowed to talk about 'potential,'" says Ryan Resch, the Suns' vice president of basketball strategy and evaluation. "We say 'capacity' instead of 'potential,' because capacity forces you to recognize what the player can actually do today and what he is capable of doing tomorrow."
congrats on wanting to sign free agents that help your team?
Jones and his staff insist they're interested in "players, not prospects." The Suns say they apply the same criteria used to determine the value of a prospective free agent to the draft. If the player can contribute immediately, and if his skill set can fill an explicit role in Williams' system for the upcoming season, he's worth considering. If neither of those measures can be met, he's not for Phoenix.
maybe just dont say this out loud???
He even confesses that, had he been at the helm in 2015, he probably would have passed on Booker."It all depends on what your goal is," Jones says. "Devin is great, but there are 50 skeletons tied to that swing for the star. It wasn't until winning was imported -- Chris, Jae Crowder, drafting a three-year guy who could help right away like Mikal -- that it translated to success. And if you don't import winning around him, there are even more skeletons. So if you want to find the guy with the highest potential to be the future star, then it makes sense to draft him -- if you're willing to navigate the land mines."

if you look at who was taken after him it was a pretty great pick

he was coming on strong near the end of the season then got a hammy/quad injury and pretty much was worthless after that.
