thinking a little more about this deal and i realized it closes the circle on the cj trade to new orleans with that bucks pick heading out, so ultimately that deal shakes out to CJ and larry nance jr for jerami grant and josh hart which is a much better deal!

oh cmon there's some stiff competition there. but this is a unique situation in that it seems like the Suns themselves are the ones revealing to everyone else that he's fools gold

hes fine hes just not worth a max.

yeah but he's got that tantalizing young big man thing that teams find irresistible. they surely could have kept their cards closer to their chest and traded him for some good stuff. now they've telegraphed to the world that they don't think he's worthy of being part of their core

whatever one thinks of ayton it's just really hard for me to believe that the suns know what they're doing

must be a Ben Simmons type situation brewing here because during last year's Finals I thought it was no doubt he was worth the max

the suns front office is not to be trusted but the fact that they’ve gotten an up close view at him and are like “yeah we’re good” would definitely concern me. he did pose for a whole story about how he sleeps 2 hours per night so he can get higher scores on 2K so there might be something there…

i think he got overrated in the playoffs last year… he played well against a bunch of injured teams two of whom didn’t have real big men and then he got sonned by giannis and was not a factor in the mavs series this year. i think there’s a bunch of teams who could defensibly max him but it’s also totally reasonable to say the suns could trade him and change their roster and get better

there's definitely something there with the offcourt stuff and he was definitely overrated after last years playoffs. but i guess my approach would be to try to work with him rather than make it clear to the entire league that i was done with him? he doesn't get hurt, he's good at a lot of different things, and he's statistically productive. i'm not sure i see the sign and trade that makes them better and i don't really have confidence that their front office will go out and find it. are his flaws really so fatal that the right position is to move on from him no matter what? i'm not sure i see that.

i don't think moving on from ayton no matter what is the suns choice. they might be happy to keep him for the right $. but ayton is telling them it is max or nothing so a sign and trade is their best option. i wouldnt want to be the team that maxes ayton.

feels weird to see all this chatter about betting markets for something that is just an organization's choice. i'm sure betting on the draft has happened in the past, but i don't remember seeing much about it in previous years.
