i think theyre the kind of team that will attract the solid vets that want to get them over the hump.

Spottie, Sunday, 27 September 2020 21:41 (three years ago) link

Lakers are getting timely 3 pt shooting -- I thought it was the bubble but their percentages (around 35%) and attempts (around 32 per game) are similar to the regular season. Guess I'm not used to KCP and Rondo hitting 3s.

that's not my post, Sunday, 27 September 2020 22:16 (three years ago) link

lakers twitter is mad at danny green but...hes been fine in the playoffs. actually better than last year's playoffs with the raps.

he had some sick ass blocks last night

New for @TheAthleticNBA : History says the Nuggets won't have an easy time getting back to WCF. A look at a complicated offseason and the choices ahead: https://t.co/t9i1F37AzQ

danny green and kcp both have value outside of shooting. playoff rondo is just a strange phenomenon

Spottie, Sunday, 27 September 2020 22:51 (three years ago) link

isnt danny green leading these playoffs in offensive rating or something

his true shooting is .481 in the offs

(offensive rating is a bad stat)

k3vin k., Monday, 28 September 2020 00:17 (three years ago) link

I take jordan’s point that the west will continue to be too heavy next year and that means that any very good team could be vulnerable, but the fact is that their projected 3 best players next year are 25, 23, and 22. the future is bright

k3vin k., Monday, 28 September 2020 00:19 (three years ago) link

Teams like the rockets and mavs have way more offseason headaches than the nuggets do

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 28 September 2020 00:24 (three years ago) link

nuggets probably have about the same chance of making the conf finals next year, they'll get better but the warriors will presumably be a real team again too

ciderpress, Monday, 28 September 2020 00:28 (three years ago) link

i don’t think the mavs have many difficult decisions, they’re on the 2021 plan.

call all destroyer, Monday, 28 September 2020 00:31 (three years ago) link

outside luka i dont really like the mavs roster

lag∞n, Monday, 28 September 2020 00:50 (three years ago) link

its very much a relic of post-title cuban and co mismanagement and then they made one v smart move in trading two lottery picks for luka that papers over how weirdly theyve rebuilt in the 5 years since they last had a winning record

i was just looking at his 3pt%, but fair point. his ts% is only about 2% lower from last year and its not even in his bottom 3 playoff ts%. this is just who icyhot is.

methinks dababy doth bop shit too much (m bison), Monday, 28 September 2020 01:04 (three years ago) link

i think bam or butler need to be the best player in this half for the heat to win, it’s been tatum for 2.5 games. admittedly didn’t see the group economics onslaught coming.

J0rdan S., Monday, 28 September 2020 01:19 (three years ago) link

it's Bam

frogbs, Monday, 28 September 2020 01:50 (three years ago) link

celtics ran out of gas

ciderpress, Monday, 28 September 2020 01:59 (three years ago) link

they should switch to renewables

methinks dababy doth bop shit too much (m bison), Monday, 28 September 2020 02:01 (three years ago) link

welp heat destroyed the celtics in crunch time all series and so deserved to win

lag∞n, Monday, 28 September 2020 02:03 (three years ago) link

with like 6 mins left the heat decided to start playing really hard on defense

J0rdan S., Monday, 28 September 2020 02:08 (three years ago) link

Lebron vs. his old team huh

frogbs, Monday, 28 September 2020 02:10 (three years ago) link

bam was everything you could want out of giannis in the fourth

J0rdan S., Monday, 28 September 2020 02:11 (three years ago) link

yup. feel like jokic and bam are showing us how to be a "big man" in the nba now

methinks dababy doth bop shit too much (m bison), Monday, 28 September 2020 02:16 (three years ago) link

as I said a few days ago, it would be really funny if lebron lost to the heat

k3vin k., Monday, 28 September 2020 02:21 (three years ago) link

tragic in the epic sense actually

Got this text out of the blue 3 years ago. Hopped on the phone a couple days later and talked for an hour about getting into sports media because he thought his basketball career was winding down.

Three years later he's about to start in the NBA Finals. What a world. pic.twitter.com/egSweR0DWk

from a tv-less ranch house in midcoast maine, congrats to the heat. no question who the better team was when it mattered.

call all destroyer, Monday, 28 September 2020 02:37 (three years ago) link

yeah this feels like the most amicable loss possible. glad it was here and not in the toronto series

ciderpress, Monday, 28 September 2020 02:41 (three years ago) link

amicable to fans i mean, no clue how the players feel

ciderpress, Monday, 28 September 2020 02:41 (three years ago) link

i will say despite the fact that i will passively support the heat in the finals, i would like to light all content about their culture and how tough they are on fire. retroactive congrats to noted winner jimmy butler for reaching a conference finals for the first time in his life.

call all destroyer, Monday, 28 September 2020 02:45 (three years ago) link

lmao. the org is a good fit for him tho no doubt.

Spottie, Monday, 28 September 2020 02:48 (three years ago) link

Jimmy is awesome and everything he's called out previous organizations, players, and coaches he's had unsuccessful run-ins with for has been proven unambiguously correct. If he wasn't stuck with some of the most inept front offices in the NBA over the past decade (Bulls and Wolves, who have both completely cleaned house in their FOs since his departure) he'd have gone back to the conference Finals (cause he has made them before in 2015 and went up 2-1 over the Cavs) and made a Finals much sooner than this. Glad he's happy and finally getting the opportunity later rather than never.

... even if in the bubble he looks like a hobo

Nhex, Monday, 28 September 2020 03:28 (three years ago) link

you try making it to the finals while managing a start up coffee concern in this economy, jimmy looks amazing considering

Clay, Monday, 28 September 2020 04:14 (three years ago) link

hard to say who looks the most scraggly between him, iggy and solomon hill.

Spottie, Monday, 28 September 2020 04:25 (three years ago) link

iggy 6 straight finals btw

Lakers in 6?

Will/can Bam guard Anthony Davis (to the extent anyone can)?

call all destroyer, Monday, 28 September 2020 13:27 (three years ago) link

Lakers in 6?

yeah, if I had to pick. but i really have no clue how this series plays out. Miami is the hottest team right now but who knows how the matchups will be.

lakers have two unguardable guys heat are gonna run around a lot see what happens

lag∞n, Monday, 28 September 2020 14:10 (three years ago) link

lakers in 6 feels like the safest bet. heat are gonna have to shoot the lakers out of the gym.
