actually the steps might be fine cause the last one with his right foot isnt really a step as hes established the left foot as the pivot

if you give him this a the gather step the play is legal but its very close then the final step moving his right foot inside the ft line is just moving his non pivot foot aka not a step, however would this have been called a travel 20 years ago absolutely, but thanks to the work of nba scientists (james harden) weve made new discoveries, the real scandal in all this is that the gather step didnt used to be a thing they literally just decided to give them a extra step at some point, but tbh it wasnt totally not a thing cause guys would pick the ball up at the very end of what we consider the gather and it wasnt counted as a step, then they started picking it up earlier the euro step came in it led to the current philosophical revolution where the gather step was added to the rule book guys are picking the ball up at the very beginning of it getting very clever with how they establish the pivot foot like tatum did there and now were here, and back in the day in any ref wouldve called that play a travel without thinking about it
