Losing Klay isn't as big of a deal in my eyes. At where his talent level is now, he's replaceable. Sucks for the "narrative" and having a proper send off for the dynastic trio, but the bigger picture of the Dubs getting better doesn't really hinge on Klay, it hinges on acquiring a legitimate 2nd option.

Yeah if it’s over it’s an ugly ending which is sad. Also they’d be losing his contract which they can’t replace. They’d only be able to sign midlevel I believe.

Honestly, if Klay is "disrespected" by a 20-24 million dollar contract and bench role (as is being reported by Haynes), good riddance. In my ideal world he signs for ~$20 mil, lines up his contract with Steph's, accepts the bench role and becomes a likable team player again instead of a petty ego to close out this insane run with the Dubs. I suppose on some level he always was that way, just go back to his comments during the 2016 finals, but it was eclipsed by his talent at the time, and other quirks. It's much harder to maintain a complete lack of self awareness as you age and decline, and it's not a good look now.

It sucks that things are ending on bad terms, but the "bad terms" and "toxicity" is 100% on Klay here.

yeah agreed. he’s a franchise legend but he was always a tertiary piece — have to let go at some point esp if the team isn’t really close to contending

There's still a chance the Warriors get something in return for Klay leaving if they end up doing the sign and trade path. Curious what they'd get back from the Mavs to salary match that would be worth it, unless there's some plans to involve a 3rd team or something.

I really don't want him going to the Lakers - not because it's the Lakers, but I would think Klay might wilt under the scrutiny and flame out in a bad way there. He never had to deal with it much until recently with the Warriors, and it's been reported he was really bothered by it.

thing id be worried about were i the knicks is not having an legit second option/enough on ball juice, theyve got brunson who is great obvs but after that its kinda dicey, feel like the best version of this team is elite defense and really good team offense/ball movement, think even then theyd have to get lucky to beat the celtics

Yeah noticed that too, maybe the rebranding is going to be phase 2 sooner or later.

BTW I'm not too disappointed that we couldn't get anything more out of the CP3 contract, getting out from under the JP deal was the most important thing and anything else would've been the cherry on top.

I love the Stotts/Stackhouse signings. If the Lauri deal doesn't happen they'll still have a glut of guards and need to shore up the 4/5. Wonder what their backup plans are.

I think Clippers didn't want a certain trade deal that Warriors were willing to give and yeah, it just didn't happen but it was close.

all joking aside... they do look a little more interesting this year. the vibes look improved

big questions for the year

- can kuminga be a reliable 2nd option? all the chatter about how he looks in preseason is all positive. but as usual with him it will come down to his defensive/rebounding effort/focus
- what does the 2 rotation look like? i tihnk theyll start with melton to alleviate pressure off steph defensive assigments. but if hes not hitting shots from deep then i hope they give moody a real shake at big minutes there.
- what will the wiggins rollercoaster bring us this year?
- can draymond stay out of trouble? (doubt it)
- can they stay afloat if curry misses time or needs to cut his minutes/backtobacks?
- can podz be relied upon as a scoring threat? can he shake the dreaded sophomore slump?
- is the looney fitness and shooting legit?
- will they make a big splashy trade by the deadline?

yeah this team kinda has a bunch of guys and theyre not all old will be interesting to see how it plays out

there's nothing better than when you've got a bunch of guys on your team

lol that is very much the same guy trying to keep his hands together and lose the hitch

wild ride for his shooting splits. that 2021 season is such a funny blip. 36% on 4 attempts per game, then two years later 41% on 1.5 attempts pg. to last year 23% on 0.6 attempts pg.

also im actually pretty pumped to have him and melton as warriors. have loved both those guys for a while. but KA was pretty bad last season so my excitement has been dampened a bit. might be cooked.

man they looked really good game one (and preseason). nice to be able to play the blazers with no pressure in game one too. but getting a lead and not giving it up is a good sign regardless.

one problem tho... too many guys.
