Even if they get Superstar X they still need another key rotation guy imo.

The depth might get decimated by the trade tho so you may be right. I love GP he’s great as a situational guy but the injuries are killer

podz hit the rookie wall right when klay was figuring out his new role like jan-march
What wall? Looking at the monthly splits for Podz, he was consistent all year, and in April he ended on his best month offensively with a .637 TS%. Granted Klay also had his best month in April too, but why don't you rewatch that play in game! BTW in that game, Podz had the best +/- of any player who played more than 20 minutes and outplayed Klay both offensively (not hard to do) and defensively.
Podz will only get better and stronger, likely earning a starting lineup spot depending on how the off season pans out. Klay's not much more than an off the bench spot up shooter now, and that role can be more easily replaced. Highly unlikely you're going to get more out of Klay than Podz the next 2-3 years.
The thing that peeves me with Klay much more than performance however was his attitude last year. He came off as near toxic with his body language, and his poor performances would compound during a game. His lack of grace during the last couple seasons has been a terrible vibe to watch and it's soured me a bit on him too.
― octobeard, Monday, 24 June 2024 21:44 (one year ago)
All that to say, I would love to see Klay back! At the right price, with the right role, and him openly and humbly understanding where he's at in his career and being a complete team player. He also needs to get out of his head. I don't have confidence he'll be that team player given what I've seen from him lately. It sucks.

Hey, let's not have it come to blows! Ha
I think part of the issue here is that Klay still had insane offensive moments last year at times and the value Podz brings is more akin to Draymond, less "sexy" or obvious since he isn't a points first guy, but all hustle and BBIQ. It's really easy to be seduced by the former and overlook the latter. Fortunately I'm pretty confident the coaching staff and FO see what I see.
― octobeard, Monday, 24 June 2024 22:18 (one year ago)
i dont disagree but that wasnt the argument. i still worry about a curry/podz starting back court tho. i didnt love what i saw once klay moved the bench (which is when podz hit a wall imo).
Granted Klay also had his best month in April too, but why don't you rewatch that play in game! BTW in that game, Podz had the best +/- of any player who played more than 20 minutes and outplayed Klay both offensively (not hard to do) and defensively.
its true klay had his worst game of the season in the play-in (and worst series vs the lakers the year before). i dont need to rewatch it thx. two years in a row of being at his worst when they need his best was v painful and probably the biggest knock on him. they def need a true 2nd option so a cold klay night doesnt handcuff them. would be awesome if podz turns into a bigger scoring threat to help too.

think the fanbase needs/needed to give him some more grace. not an easy thing to confront your decline and everything it entails (especially after being robbed of 2.5 seasons of his prime)... we cant expect every pro to be tim duncan with how they react to it. it took him some time but he figured it out, i was fascinated by it last year and even found him to be pretty relatable in his frustrations. I think he earned the time they gave him... on the other hand andrew wiggins did not earn the rope they gave him and his issues compounded klays. if klay comes back i think he'll be a better vet/pro about it all.
podz is a baller! im not being seduced by anything lol.

I remember now, Podz came in to start against the Jazz, Dubs actually did quite well, going 5-1, culminating in that epic win in NY against the Knicks! However, Podz hurt his knee in that Knicks game, missed 4-5 games, and wasn't quite the same until April. After Podz came back, Klay played well on the bench and regained his starting job. Podz didn't hit a wall, he was hurt. Before and after that injury, he was consistently playing as well as or better than Klay, just not scoring as many points.
they def need a true 2nd option so a cold klay night doesnt handcuff them. would be awesome if podz turns into a bigger scoring threat to help too.
100% agree! I would also love to see an adjustment in his game to not let it fly so much and pick spots more intelligently. So much momentum was lost last year with 3rd and 4th quarter Klay bricks. But Klay still thinks he's a #2. He's not anymore, and hasn't been since he's been back (that was Poole in '22). My guess is the Warriors are going to trade for that #2 in the next few weeks.
think the fanbase needs/needed to give him some more grace.
If he wants grace at the financial and playtime expense of the team, that's not right, and as a fan, I'm not here for that. Those playoff performances weren't very graceful.
on the other hand andrew wiggins did not earn the rope they gave him and his issues compounded klays. if klay comes back i think he'll be a better vet/pro about it all.
Yeah Wiggs is a problem and he needs to be held to account for his performance moving forward. I do hope the team can move on from him if possible in a trade, but a lot of my frustrations last year could be attributed to Kerr's long leashes too. That has to change too, and Klay should be on board with that if he's going to be a "vet/pro about it all".

The Warriors plan to keep Lindy Waters III past his Saturday guarantee date, per sources: $2.2 million next season. They like him as a deep rotation option. https://t.co/DP8qjbeSck— Anthony Slater (@anthonyVslater) June 27, 2024
― I Chet the Holmgren (Spottie), Thursday, 27 June 2024 18:43 (one year ago)
guess they just wanted someone in their prime that might be able to make a shot or two. probably not any TJDs hanging out at the bottom of the draft this year so its worth a shot i guess.
― I Chet the Holmgren (Spottie), Thursday, 27 June 2024 18:47 (one year ago)
Yeah this draft is an absolute crap shoot and this trade is probably better than what they'd have picked. Given the success of last year's draft, this and next year's is going to be like found money if anything good comes from it. Understandable to want to trade picks for PG at this stage.
― octobeard, Thursday, 27 June 2024 19:06 (one year ago)

The Warriors got their No. 52 pick Quinten Post back, sources tell ESPN. Golden State traded the pick for Lindy Waters, OKC traded the pick to Portland, and then the Warriors bought it back.— Kendra Andrews (@kendra__andrews) June 27, 2024

Because Golden State sent out cash to acquire the pick, the $189.7M second apron is triggered. The Warriors would not be allowed to exceed that amount. https://t.co/bQ94QxOuhJ— Bobby Marks (@BobbyMarks42) June 27, 2024

extending pauls contract one week and blocking wiggs from playing overseas
ESPN Sources: Golden State and Chris Paul intend to move back the date to guarantee the $30 million on his 2024-2025 contract to the start of free agency on Sunday. Deadline was originally today. This gives Warriors time to keep exploring trades.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) June 28, 2024
Mutual decision between the Warriors and Andrew Wiggins to prioritize his health and hold him out of Olympics, I’m told. Doesn’t preclude GSW from possibly trading him, but it’s a medical decision. Wiggins dealt with an ankle issue late this past season. https://t.co/W3jyDMY8Y1— Anthony Slater (@anthonyVslater) June 28, 2024

― Decam'ron (Leee), Saturday, 29 June 2024 01:11 (one year ago)
Not only is Klay's departure seemingly imminent, the pipe dream of being PG seems DOA now too. Well done.
In a desperate search to upgrade the talent of an underperforming supporting cast around Stephen Curry, they had spent the last couple of weeks actively exploring the trade market, including an improbable run at free-agent-to-be Paul George, a pursuit the team knows is now dead.
― Decam'ron (Leee), Sunday, 30 June 2024 03:10 (one year ago)
Also the gram unfollowing drama was real.
― Ella Minnow Picaresque (Leee), Sunday, 30 June 2024 03:21 (one year ago)
Yah not looking good. Losing klay (and for nothing) and if they don’t trade anything for wigs and/or cps contracts would mean the end
― I Chet the Holmgren (Spottie), Sunday, 30 June 2024 04:19 (one year ago)
Losing Klay isn't as big of a deal in my eyes. At where his talent level is now, he's replaceable. Sucks for the "narrative" and having a proper send off for the dynastic trio, but the bigger picture of the Dubs getting better doesn't really hinge on Klay, it hinges on acquiring a legitimate 2nd option.
