amazon lets you dvr, however... the experience SUCKS. watchign thursday night nfl games was so annoying i eventually just stopped (granted, most the thursday games werent that great anyway) but its hard to just casual watch that way. and with YTTV you can watch other stuff or bounce around easily or watch in multiview once you catch up live. gonna really suck if they do a lot through them or apple+ or whatever

having a bunch of nba games including the conf finals every other year be not on normal tv seems like a pretty big shift what if you live in a place that has bad internet you just cant watch some of the playoffs

I know inside will always have its late period contraristans, but it seems like for all the good years they had the show has run its course. time for a new era

if you accept the premise that shaq’s unique blend of buffoonery, incuriosity, and self-centeredness is an indispensable part of basketball media, I can see wanting to give him a pass. but even by his own dreadful standards that was a mumbling and incoherent rant and a gratuitous show of disrespect

I’m not offended, seriously! just embarrassed that this once-great show is still somehow the standard even in its decrepit state. I agree the current alternatives are worse, but is this version of inside really worth preserving? why?

i survey the landscape of basketball programming on TV from espn to nba tv to tnt on nights when they rotate in other ex-players and i just laugh at the idea that you guys want the people in charge of these networks to create a new tv show for us all to watch. TNT's big new idea this playoffs was putting jamal crawford w/ reggie miller in the booth. watch anything ESPN puts on tv. who is saving us?

I understand that complaining about late inside has just been pissing into the wind for like a decade now. but we’re talking about a moment where there’s an actual chance things get shaken up. the show is obviously not getting better, and will just continue to get worse. now seems like a good time to appreciate the good times and move on

is this version of inside really worth preserving? why?

bcuz it's roughly 500000x more entertaining than anything else basketball related on TV aside from the games and if shaq is annoying sometimes it's ok i just change the channel and come back in a few minutes

for the record here’s a great hack I learned: you don’t actually have to listen to the studio shows. good chance to use the bathroom, make some food, post on ilx etc

but we’re talking about a moment where there’s an actual chance things get shaken up.

ftr I wasn't super upset about the Shaq thing I just thought it was dumb and oafish, which I guess it's to say it's Shaq

shaq has always been bad at his job but hes been noticeably weird this yeah he seems angry frustrated hes been making a bunch of odd sexual innuendoes on air, trying to make jokers mvp interview about himself, looking at the stat sheet of a game and saying i dont who this is but he had a good game

maybe hes just letting his freak flag fly knowing that the show is prob gonna be canceled

sometimes shaq gets chuck going in a good way, more often than not he is a bottleneck for conversation and a buffoon. show is not perfect, i still enjoy watching it, and i shudder at the thought of what amazon or nbc's attempts at studio programming will be

i still watch inside its the best nba show but its a shadow of its former self

i think that's a fair assessment. most tv shows w/ this lifespan can only be really good for so long

the difference is that when a normal tv show falls off there's other good tv to watch instead. there is no other good post game basketball programming to watch

actually scott van pelt on sportscenter after games is pretty good usually. him and tim legler do good film breadown segments, it's def the kinda entertaining but smart programming that people want to see on tv. but you're only getting like 10-15 mins before he moves on to other sports etc

the van pelt sports center is good, im sure its not easy to make a good sports talk show but it is possible, as to whether the desire is there doesnt seem like it

SVP is my go to sports show now. i watch some inside still but its not must watch any more for me. the gap between those two and anything else on the national media landscape is massive. espn really should just be trying anything new just throw caution to the wind and see what works. i liked that tnt gave KG that weird segment a few years ago... even tho it didnt really work. but just more stuff in the spirit of that experiment.

commentator pet peeve theyre way too quick to say a guy is "down" "injured" its disturbing and the guy is usually not really down or injured last nights game ian eagle said chet was down holding his head and chet ran into view before he was finished
