do the big three want to keep doing this, obvs you want them and particularly steph to retire warriors, but i assume they all want to play multiple more years are they willing to be on a bad team
― lag∞n, Wednesday, April 17, 2024 11:48 AM (one hour ago) bookmarkflaglink
have a feeling steph and probably also dray are going to ride it out until the end. chris paul however will win his first ring after signing with denver on a minimum
― brony james (k3vin k.), Wednesday, 17 April 2024 17:06 (two years ago)
their best bet is to resign klay cheap, trade wiggins and picks for something. curry needs some more shot creation around him badly. hope that kuminga can find another tier. or maybe flip kuminga for an all star level player. i think they were an honest 5-6 seed this year if draymond didnt get suspended and or kicked out of ~20 games. idk they are prob better than what they showed last night but the ceiling has lowered significantly. curry was quite average over the last two months or so.
im good with whatever they decide as long as curry retires a warrior (if thats what he wants). would love to see all three do the same but sometimes you gotta make hard decisions.
― I Chet the Holmgren (Spottie), Wednesday, 17 April 2024 18:53 (two years ago)
there were only 4 games between 10th and 5th, it's not outrageous to say they were more of a middle of the pack team this year, it's prob true. i just don't see many good reasons for why they're likely to rise to the top of the morass next year aside from just some random luck breaking one way or another
― slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 17 April 2024 21:45 (two years ago)
xp yeah Curry was pretty rough after the All Star Break. He really needs to be load managed now more than ever and he played a lot of games, a lot of back to backs, and it def seemed like his tank was on empty.
If they can't get a top tier scorer along side him next year (or one emerges from the youth group, i.e. Kuminga), they won't be going anywhere.
I agree with trading Wiggins, resigning Klay cheap, and keeping him on the bench, but wouldn't be against him not on the team at all so the org can begin to transition beyond the big 3 and "warm feelings". It's either nostalgia or an outside chance at a seed higher than 6 it feels like with them at this stage.
― octobeard, Wednesday, 17 April 2024 22:03 (two years ago)
That said, they were not far from winning like 54 games this year which could have had them as the 4th seed.
― octobeard, Wednesday, 17 April 2024 22:04 (two years ago)
Or trade him to the Hornets for Lamelo + fillers (Seth!), it'd be a sweet homecoming for Steph.
― Costas Mandylorian (Leee), Wednesday, 17 April 2024 23:18 (two years ago)
I highly doubt he has any interest in playing for the Hornets. He wants to win.

i think that was the real cost of drays suspensions. put them in a hole early and curry had to play a ton and had to be pressing every game to try and get them back in the mix. he woulda sat probably ten more games if there were more comfortably set in the standings. kerr needed to unleash kuminga (and moody) much earlier in the season and given wiggins a much shorter leash until he could figure out whatever was going on w his brain. also gave loon way to long of a leash, dude looked like a 10 minutes per night guy from the jump.
― I Chet the Holmgren (Spottie), Thursday, 18 April 2024 18:22 (two years ago)
the sudden plunge in looney's production was one of the sadder developments for the dubs this season
― more difficult than I look (Aimless), Thursday, 18 April 2024 18:36 (two years ago)
yeah man its crazy the life they were able to squeeze out of him for those 4-5 seasons after those hip surgeries.

Kevon Looney will likely be released by the Warriors to save money on their tax bill, per @timkawakami (https://t.co/NkncufZeZ0).Only $3 million of Looney’s $8 million salary is guaranteed until it fully locks in on June 24.If Looney is released, expect plenty of interest. pic.twitter.com/WDUWojDAAp— Evan Sidery (@esidery) June 10, 2024

bummer indeed. he's only 28 years old but looked old man slow this year. still first ballot role player HOF.
― that's not my post, Monday, 10 June 2024 22:45 (two years ago)
yeah he really slid back this year. the fall off was quick cos he was incredible vs sabonis in that kings series just a year ago
― I Chet the Holmgren (Spottie), Monday, 10 June 2024 22:49 (two years ago)
he was prob always on borrowed time due to injuries before he ever got to the league, he was actually considered a top prospect before the injuries
― lag∞n, Monday, 10 June 2024 22:51 (two years ago)
yeah every year someone reposts the old clips of his prospect highlights and he played like KD haha, very fluid
― I Chet the Holmgren (Spottie), Monday, 10 June 2024 22:55 (two years ago)
yeah its crazy
― lag∞n, Monday, 10 June 2024 22:57 (two years ago)
Very curious to find out what "plenty of interest" looks like. He's an incredible bench vet but he has such limited utility on the court.
― reggae mike love (polyphonic), Monday, 10 June 2024 23:00 (two years ago)
xp on the other hand pretty cool he was able to salvage a career at all and find a role that he excelled at. rebound machine, smart all around player, good vet
― I Chet the Holmgren (Spottie), Monday, 10 June 2024 23:01 (two years ago)
im sure plenty of teams would offer vet minimum
spurs need a viable backup C for defense bc zach collins is ass

I'd love to see him as a Spur.
Thunder might make sense too. Or maybe he could go home to Milwaukee.

Would be fascinating to see where he might land if this falls through. Who would pay him $20 million?

so many teams
― I Chet the Holmgren (Spottie), Friday, 14 June 2024 23:43 (two years ago)
not a lot of cap room this offseason. okc, phi, orl, sa seem like sorta realistic ideas, det and utah less so.

yeah a lot could change obv. but orlando is the one people have been talking about the most.
i still think he's staying gsw

but he deleted them off his ig, thats legally binding

― Chyiv Kyiv (Fetchboy), Sunday, 16 June 2024 02:29 (two years ago)
i think the monk deal has kind of set the market a bit and i think klay will settle for around that? i think less teams are interested than i may have thought, rumors today that orlando is backing and was gonna offer 1/20 or something. still think he ends up on a 3/60-70 deal with the warriors team option on final year
― I Chet the Holmgren (Spottie), Friday, 21 June 2024 19:21 (one year ago)
somebody reported klay's more interested in a longer term contract than getting a higher annual paycheck. GSW can probably find a way to keep him in the fold if they can defer some of the payments to the last year of a 4 year, assuming that they'll be blowing up the team by then and mostly backed out of the luxury tax
― more difficult than I look (Aimless), Friday, 21 June 2024 21:28 (one year ago)
they arent doing 4. theyve offered 2 and he wants 3. team wants to line him up with curry/kerr deals and thats 2 years. dray has a 3rd year so they could go there with a team option but klay may not take that
― I Chet the Holmgren (Spottie), Friday, 21 June 2024 21:30 (one year ago)
I'd rather lose him than have here for a third year, unless he's willing to play for $15 a year or something.

Awww! So fresh-faced!!
I know he looked cooked for a lot of last season and shot them out of the game a few times but his numbers weren't far enough below his past production to justify breaking up the splash bros yet. I'm confident they'll come to an agreement.
― Chyiv Kyiv (Fetchboy), Friday, 21 June 2024 23:58 (one year ago)
I have a Klay jersey, but I also want to see the team win. If Klay was willing to take a team friendly contract, I'm all for it, but I feel he's got some toxic levels of financial entitlement still and he's been the absolute opposite of clutch the last two years in the playoffs/play-in and even when they won his TS% was like 55%.
He's a solid role player now. If he can see that and take the appropriate pay cut so the team can have more depth, fantastic, but he's not exactly been signalling that he's open to it. He's a bit of a crybaby on the court too when things don't go his way lately, and he should have been benched far earlier than when he was. I'm tired of "legacy" deciding lineups. I wish Kerr was more like Pop here and I would love to see the Warriors try and reload more efficiently around Curry. It's clear after the last 3 years that Klay is less important to the team than Curry and Draymond.
I was mad when the Niners shipped off Lott, Craig and especially Montana, but then they kept winning. I know the cap situation makes this harder for the Warriors but I'd rather them be creative while Curry is here than keep the big 3 and do a 3 year retirement tour.
― octobeard, Saturday, 22 June 2024 00:25 (one year ago)
Podz >>> Klay at this stage and his ceiling is only rising.
― octobeard, Saturday, 22 June 2024 00:26 (one year ago)
i mean if the dubs want to blow it up then fine trade steph but as long as youre doing an extended farewell tour klays gotta be there
― lag∞n, Saturday, 22 June 2024 00:33 (one year ago)
Man I just really disagree that podz is better than klay. Might get there soon but not yet. Klay just being on the floor opens everything up for curry and kuminga
― I Chet the Holmgren (Spottie), Saturday, 22 June 2024 00:45 (one year ago)
Podz had higher win shares and the same VORP as Klay. Both played at least 74 games. VORP is a counting stat so Podz was technically better. Podz defense and BBIQ on court were better than Klay's most of the year just with the eye test. Podz was a defensive positive, Klay a liability (looking at DBPM, but is consistent with my visual memory too). Podz had way more rebounds and assits than Klay. He was the better all around impact player on the court. Podz was also a rookie, mind you, and was first team All Rookie! You have nostalgia goggles on. Podz is by far the best talent value on the entire roster (outside maybe Steph).
― octobeard, Saturday, 22 June 2024 03:18 (one year ago)
Shooting ain't everything, and there's more people who can replace Klay's numbers than Podz' overall impact. Dude's a baller.
