perfect how he only matchup thats decided is the classic first round rivalry mavs clips

from what i can tell the biggest question in the east is whether milwaukee will decide to try and win against orlando. they sat dame last night and took an easy L despite their seed being up in the air. if orlando is given a W it almost certain pushes miami & philly into the play in which sets up the worst case scenario for both of those teams (having to play boston) as well as for boston (having to play philly)

youd think the bucks wouldnt want philly in the playin

tho if they lose and drop to third or fourth than i guess it doesnt matter

personally i think milwaukee will throw the game bcuz it will drop them out of the 2 while pushing philly and miami into the play in. they do risk fucking around and dropping to the 4 but i guess their logic would be that you gotta go thru boston one way or another? but also they could get indiana who had murdered them.

the 3 and 6 are the catbird seats in the east — avoid the play in, avoid boston until the ECF, likely avoid philly and/or miami in round 1. but idk if any team can directly maneuver to either of those spots it all feels dependent on the totality of the results

yeah its too hard to figure out, if everyone is trying to get the 3rd spot then what happens

bucks have an added incentive of really needing an easy first round series since they maybe wont have giannis for at least part of it

i’m getting extreme bucks-heat post bubble playoffs round 1 vibes from the potential of a celtics-heat 1-8 series, but i guess we’d be able to savor the 36 hours of stress from celtics fans before they won by 17 in game 1

ha yeah i dont super care about it but i know many celtics fans are very traumatized by the heat, id rather not play them just cause they play hard and physical and can defend in the way that gives the celtics trouble, youd just rather play a soft team in the 1st, but id rather they play the heat than the sixers

orlando is theoretically better than the heat but the celtics would prob rather get them than the heat too just cause theyre so green

one interesting wrinkle for the east is pacers-hawks, hawks have nothing to play for but they’re working trae back in and might treat that game as a useful warm up for the play in. heat (raptors), sixers (nets), cavs (hornets) all have cakewalk games

the knicks have been played close and been beaten by the bulls twice in the last 10 days but i have no idea why the bulls would play any of their starters

the only cross conference game tomorrow is pistons vs spurs lol the league had that one scoped out
