Kings had such a charmed season last year. I think they can still build to something but they need to add a piece or two

fox and sabonis is a pretty capped top two imo theyre just not quite good enough

i feel like the pressure for the kings to be more than just a fun playoff team is pretty minimal and that’s fine

it does seem like they loaded up last offseason to do something big and then couldn’t pull it off. i’m less concerned with their top 2 to me they just aren’t dynamic at all outside of them. if you listen to NBA reporter guys talk about them they genuinely thought keegan murray was gonna push them to another level this year

classic situation of people thinking a second year player is gonna be good, he could get to being a difference maker but hes got some ways to go

they had two top 10 picks to put into this core & you look at the drafts and they didn’t do anything wrong really, it really highlights the randomness of it all. if you look at the keegan murray pick they prob got the best guy in a span of 8 straight picks but the ninth guy was jalen williams

yeah youd really like to nail a top five pick but then realistically hes prob gonna outperform the spot on average

I follow a bunch of kings people and they are all happy with Keegan’s growth cos basically he draws the superstar assignment every night and has been really good defensively. Like that’s his focus this year. But like, they need him to score 20 a game too. So if that’s the leap next year in scoring plus he is a plus defender then they might have something cooking.

They need to upgrade the Harrison Barnes position pretty badly

murray could still be really good i just can’t shake the wiggins/barnes thing w/ him personally. that’s still a starter on a championship team level player but also guys who have left their teams wanting. they’ll prob have to keep using draft capital to try and add some more pieces

you can’t really have a championship team without a top 5 player. murray’s fine for what he is but it’s all window dressing at this point unless the core is shaken up. but that’s fine! the kings were so bad for so long
