mb they trade trae

lag∞n, Thursday, 14 March 2024 17:45 (two years ago)

Can't spell trade without Trae, think about it.

Selune Gomez (Leee), Thursday, 14 March 2024 19:50 (two years ago)

Hard to get a good offer for him though, no D

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Thursday, 14 March 2024 20:04 (two years ago)

if the spurs want him they could put something together

lag∞n, Thursday, 14 March 2024 20:24 (two years ago)

oh wait, haha nice

lag∞n, Thursday, 14 March 2024 20:30 (two years ago)

if i worked for the atlanta newspaper I would used a giant headline "TRAE-DED" if he got traded

incredibly online spurs fans have been hyping up a trae-to-sa trade since the deadline, i admit i am *tents fingers* intrigued

polyamerie "it's more than this 1 thing" (m bison), Thursday, 14 March 2024 21:15 (two years ago)

i think its the perfect fit for him

infinite wiggles (Spottie), Thursday, 14 March 2024 21:21 (two years ago)

i think so too, his defensive shortcomings notwithstanding. i just dont know what a fair trade for atl looks like. spurs will have maybe two top 10 picks this year, 25's (sa, chi top 10 protected, atl), 26 (sa, atl swap), 27 (sa, atl). i dont know if atl wants any of the spurs current non-wemby guys (vassell for sure, but sa would not trade him i dont think)

polyamerie "it's more than this 1 thing" (m bison), Thursday, 14 March 2024 21:23 (two years ago)

idk why the spurs would do that honestly, they can prob find a good point guard w/ one of their picks or in some other trade

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 14 March 2024 21:25 (two years ago)

you'd have to be a huge believer in trae to give up multiple firsts for him and take on his contract -- i think he's very likely to become a supermax player in the next 2-3 years, all he has to do is make a single third team all NBA which he very likely would've done this year if he was healthy and it's rare for him to be hurt. one of the next few years he'll have a season where he crosses 65 games, a few other guys don't, and bam you've got yourself a $300m player

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 14 March 2024 21:29 (two years ago)

oh no that would suck if the spurs had two really great players in their prime making all-nba teams

polyamerie "it's more than this 1 thing" (m bison), Thursday, 14 March 2024 21:34 (two years ago)

word. enjoy that ride, my friend

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 14 March 2024 21:35 (two years ago)

the draft is such a crap shoot theres a lot of value in getting a guy who is actually good, plus even if you draft a good guy you have to wait for them to develop, as to how much all thats worth to the spurs for the level of good trae young is idk three firsts maybe, two top ten firsts and another one seems like too much, tho this years draft is supposed to be weak, maybe instead of trading for trae they can just draft reed shepard who is sort of a trae young who blocks shots instead of passing

lag∞n, Thursday, 14 March 2024 21:35 (two years ago)

offensively it seems like a pretty obv fit with wemby as two complementary threats. i guess it depends on how confident you can find a better fit (i like a few smaller guards in this draft, would be happy with topic, castle, sheppard, or dillingham).

xp

polyamerie "it's more than this 1 thing" (m bison), Thursday, 14 March 2024 21:36 (two years ago)

i don't think they have to find their point guard of the future in this draft

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 14 March 2024 21:37 (two years ago)

this is a good draft to take reed sheppard tho

lag∞n, Thursday, 14 March 2024 21:38 (two years ago)

i think between wemby and sochan, spurs have the pieces of a very defensively versatile lineup that would be able to hide trae's deficiencies. still need to strengthen the SF position in that regard (which may be a bigger priority for the spurs than solving their pg woes).

polyamerie "it's more than this 1 thing" (m bison), Thursday, 14 March 2024 21:39 (two years ago)

the problem with trae young is how good is trae young really, its kind of hard to figure

lag∞n, Thursday, 14 March 2024 21:39 (two years ago)

could the spurs get him to play good basketball or is it too late for him

lag∞n, Thursday, 14 March 2024 21:40 (two years ago)

i dont think i would be stoked to make a big trade for him

lag∞n, Thursday, 14 March 2024 21:42 (two years ago)

maybe the lakers will get him

lag∞n, Thursday, 14 March 2024 21:43 (two years ago)

i dont think the hawks will trade trae, still think dejounte is the one theyll shop most heavily, and the lakers would actually have a shot at landing him rather than trae anyway

polyamerie "it's more than this 1 thing" (m bison), Thursday, 14 March 2024 21:47 (two years ago)

altho i kinda wonder if bron takes his player option to stay in la next season. HE should go to the spurs imo.

polyamerie "it's more than this 1 thing" (m bison), Thursday, 14 March 2024 21:47 (two years ago)

also kinda weird how bron has been in la for 6 years, feels like a lesser chapter of his career but he's been there longer than his miami and second cleveland stints.

polyamerie "it's more than this 1 thing" (m bison), Thursday, 14 March 2024 21:49 (two years ago)

you look at where guys like shai, halliburton, mitchell, steph, dame, jamal murray, maxey, jrue, dame, fox, dejounte etc were picked in the first round to say nothing of guys like brunson and FVV i just question whether you really need to be giving up multiple firsts and jumping right into a max deal for trae young. yes drafting is a crapshoot, the spurs could blow a bunch of picks, but is that really a position that requires that level of investment?

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 14 March 2024 21:49 (two years ago)

to say nothing of other avenues such as trades and free agency. is trae young just the shining beacon on a hill?

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 14 March 2024 21:51 (two years ago)

it isnt, it would just be cool to watch. the one who they should really consider throwing an offer for is...mikal bridges

polyamerie "it's more than this 1 thing" (m bison), Thursday, 14 March 2024 21:52 (two years ago)

still think dejounte is the one theyll shop most heavily, and the lakers would actually have a shot at landing him rather than trae anyway

― polyamerie "it's more than this 1 thing" (m bison), Thursday, March 14, 2024 5:47 PM (seventeen minutes ago) bookmarkflaglink

question is does anyone really want dejounte and what do the hawks do if not, are they happy to just take whatever for him and move on with their lives, or do they #tradetrae

lag∞n, Thursday, 14 March 2024 22:07 (two years ago)

imo its fine to invest a lot at point guard if the player is really good, feel like quick guards who can get into the lane and break the defense have become underrated in the era of the big wing, is trae young that guy he can def do the things but hes also had some trouble with defensive pressure in the playoffs and he has major defensive issues etc so idk, like i said im not a huge trae young fan, but on the other hand he can def do some stuff

lag∞n, Thursday, 14 March 2024 22:12 (two years ago)

if it was mostly a monetary transaction and didn't require compensating the hawks w/ a superstar trade package, i could be into the idea of just giving him a fresh start, i think he's worth having on your team. well, probably. lol

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 14 March 2024 22:20 (two years ago)

i think we can toss out jrue dejounte and fvv cause they either dont fit the bill of a lead guard or arent that good then add trae and youve got ten guys 11 if you count dame twice for the whole league its not like theyre just laying around

lag∞n, Thursday, 14 March 2024 22:21 (two years ago)

now if you could get an all star level big wing in his prime instead would you, for most of those guys yeah prob, can you get an all star level big wing in his prime, no probably not

lag∞n, Thursday, 14 March 2024 22:24 (two years ago)

completely agree. everything is going according to plan. the real wemby window starts a couple of years from
now, absolutely no need to rush things. I think RC and pop get this

brony james (k3vin k.), Thursday, 14 March 2024 22:25 (two years ago)

can’t believe our very own m bise has been talked into trading for trae young I’m shaken

i guess. keyonte george prob has more trade value than trae young right now so i'm not sure i'm buying your logic

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 14 March 2024 22:27 (two years ago)

like i said i dont love trae young, i do like the trae young type player tho, and yeah keyonte george looks great

lag∞n, Thursday, 14 March 2024 22:28 (two years ago)

what if you could get trae young for two firsts and keldon johnson

lag∞n, Thursday, 14 March 2024 22:29 (two years ago)

we forgot about kyrie, its a blessed day

lag∞n, Thursday, 14 March 2024 22:31 (two years ago)

― lag∞n, Thursday, March 14, 2024 6:29 PM (three minutes ago)

idk it just feels like there is a real penalty these days to using your trade assets incorrectly, not only do you need to be compiling a war chest of first round picks but once you start protecting those picks in trades it starts to hamper your ability to make other moves. do the spurs want to have hurdles to clear to make a deal in the 2026 offseason bcuz they owe a lottery protected 2028 first to the hawks for trae young? i just don't think he's worth all that trouble

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 14 March 2024 22:34 (two years ago)

this is more what i mean, i wanna see what a high-level passer and long 3 threat can do to unlock wemby's game.

polyamerie "it's more than this 1 thing" (m bison), Thursday, 14 March 2024 22:35 (two years ago)

wemby would dunk every play with trae running point it would be some real sick shit, thats what we want

lag∞n, Thursday, 14 March 2024 22:36 (two years ago)
