I watched the final preseason Blazer game where all the rookies and training camp hopefuls were given minutes while the veterans sat. Duop Reath stood out to me as the one guy who already knew exactly where he should be at every moment and how to make smart plays. I was glad they picked him up.

interesting piece on the scoring decline, fouls are down one a game which isnt that much but its causing the game to slow down too since possessions with fouls are shorter than those without, and all possessions are slowing down since defenses can now play harder due to the looser officiating, thats the theory

also ~12% of the ft decline is due to trae and embiid being out lol

yeah that was a good read, conclusion it’s like 10-15% less free throws, 10-15% a small handful of outliers being out, and the rest is the downstream slower pace effects of there being less free throws

celitcs now first in 3pt% 39.1 and 3pt rate 47.3, thats crazy

closest any teams come to doing that over a full season in the last ten years was 2016 warriors who were first in % 41.6 and second to houston 37 in rate at 36.2, houston was 19th in percetage at 34.7

celtics haved done it without great shooters, at least not in the starting lineup, theyve done it with a lot of good shooters who are also good basketball players, which allows them to generate great looks, of their top eight guys in 3pt attempts six are outperforming their career percentage and the other two jaylen and pritchard are less than a point off, also theyve shot way better as the season has progressed, which is prob because theyve figured out how to play with the new guys, so they might be better at shooting 3s than the season numbers suggest, also prob as something to do with that theyve been resting starters recently which give hauser more minutes, and he is bombs away folks let me tell you

last year celtics were 6th in 3pt% 37.7 and second in rate 48 which is good but not as good as being first in both haha

+700 seems like a lot until you total up the number of games including playoffs across two seasons and divide by that number. my stance on this ongoing “controversy” is that it’s not very surprising that a team employing lebron and AD dominates its opponents in the foul department

i challenge you to find another stat that has a similar distribution
